I just watched it. I actually liked it more for the story and dialogue than the transformations, which were excellent. It reminded me of Lost In Translation. High praise as that's one of my favorite movies of all time.

Seconded. Anyway, no ground-breaking TF, all left in the middle, cut planes, off camera... I thought that this is necessary when you need to squeeze the budget, but I really don't know why I expected more than this. Anyway, as I said, the movie is good and the story interesting, have a try if you can :).

The directors said that the TF was an ape-like creature. It is good but too brief :P. Anyway this movie, for sure, will give the artists some good ideas for pictures, comics and stories :).

i dont know..i thought it was decent. I think as far as tfs go if your expectations were real high..you were probably let down. thats why low expectations is key ;)

Nope, it is more like "creatures from our past" thing. It was not "Chtulhu", but something like a squid... yes, we don't descend from the squids, but they let themselves to have some licenses, I mean, it's not a documental.

Yeah, another vote here for "excellent movie, relatively uninspiring TF material"

Hey if anyone has time, it would be awesome to know where the major TFs are in the movie. I'm kinda pressed for time right now so I don't have time to watch the whole movie. If not, no worries! Thanks y'all.

The movie was really solid, though, tf-wise, I think my expectations were too high, based off the descriptions we were given earlier in the thread. I think had we not had that, we wouldn't have put this one as high on a pedestal as we did. That said, what we did get was FAR from crap. Honestly, it's fairly clear that all their budget went to effects, which really helped things out. Everything else was very simple, on location scenes, that really didn't require much out of funding. I liked that there were multiple transformations of various types, and we got some very detailed cuts of her mid transformation. The process itself (as in, seeing things shift and change) was somewhat limited save for the second tf (The "werewolf/ape" tf, which, I think we all wish they would have shown more of. What they did show was amazing). I think there was mostly just skin effects signaling the change, then "oh look, one of your limbs is suddenly different". In the grand scheme, though, that's a minor gripe. Overall, too high expectations nonwithstanding, I like what we got. Far better than the letdown Bitten turned out to be.

<Spoiler for those who care to discuss the actual plot of the movie>
(You can still make it out without highlighting, but only if you're going out of your way to read it)

Plot-wise, I have mixed feelings on this one. Things started out fantastic, setting up Evan's character, and why he's now in Europe. I like how they tried to give a backbone to what Louise is going through, whether you buy the mythos or not. How self regenerating cells lend themselves to those types of transformations is odd, but I went with it. Most of my gripes come with how the movie wraps itself up. First, Evan finds out about Louise, and is just like, "You know what...no biggie. I can deal with that". Outside of him "needing a minute", he doesn't really seem to need to process anything that happens, and now he's suddenly ready to spend his life with her.

Additionally, the timeframe within which this movie takes place hurts it. Towards the end, when he's trying to convince her to love him, and that he's so sure he's in love, it's really unbelievable (yes, I know I just said that about a movie where a chick turns into a squid). This is especially so when you factor in he's trying to convince a girl he's known for a week to give up essential immortality to be with him. Top that off with the fact that she essentially decides in the eleventh hour that she's in love, and the ending just falls flat to me.

All fetishes aside, I would have liked to see her ultimately begin to transform, and tells a heartbroken Evan to leave for his safety. He would then either begrudgingly leave, or voluntarily stay and face the horror of Louise's final transformation (which we get to see in detail, of course :D). Either way, you use that to reinforce the theme of life being short, and savoring what little time you have in great moments. Evan reflects on their brief fling, either while fleeing or staring down his doom, and film over. Just my two cents

</Spoiler>

tl;dr: Not all I expected, but much appreciated new content. Definitely better than some stuff that's popped up recently.
