That or they just don't care and wanted to get her into containment asap.
They're not the most sinister villains, I doubt they'd care to murder her friends and family or ruin her life. No real reason to.

They don't have to do any of that, the idea alone that the bad guys know her real I.D would be threat enough. It's something they can further use as a bargaining chip to get the reactor. Also.. Tiger's talk about torture earlier might have been foreshadowing what's to come for poor Spinny. And again, they don't even have to actually do it, just threatening to; putting that card on the table might be enough. They're well aware they they've caught a rookie Super-Hero, I doubt anyone thinks she'll be a tough nut to crack.

For some reason, I'd like to think that they'd tried to "stabilize" her first before they thought about using her as a bargaining chip...or a new member of the team.

I wonder if they are sympathetic because Greta went through something similar at some point? I could be wrong, but I feel like this either is meant to explain something from the past, or to show that not all of their enemies are evil.

They might be helping Heather because they think she'll be mistreated, or her problem will be mishandled.

Re: Spinnerette

Newest page suggests that the villains want to figure out how to harness the reaction for medical use (allowing people to regrow limbs isn't explicitly stated, but it's certainly implied and would be among the most prominent of uses). Trouble is, they'd probably have to kill Spinny to do it.

...yeah, for someone who turned evil because of 'Atlas Shrugged', Dr. Universe is clearly a very Randian character. Do good, damn the consequences. I prefer him and Greta to Evil Spinnerette, but still, I want this guy to go down.

Well, at least he had the common courtesy to ask first. XD

I'm not liking his plan. I sort of wish he'd gone with mine instead, it's less dead inducing.

Maybe he's just being dramatic? That Spinnerette has to die? Heather will lose her powers and become normal again?

...either way, it seems unlikely she'll actually die. Maybe this could somehow lead to a cure for Mecha-Maid (even though Dr. Universe probably doesn't know about her problem) and that's how he'll convince her to continue.

It would be great if they could cure Mecha-Maid. Maybe Dr. Universe could advance medicine without having to kill Spinny though. She's got arms to spare, he could have a few of those to do crazy experiments on.

It looks like that might be a possibility at this point, given the events of today's strip...poor Spinny...

To paraphrase Amanda Waller: "But when you're making a Spinnerette, genetic accidents are only part of the story. The rest is tragedy."

Heather should be all the stronger for all this...or we get a new comic called Heatherette.

Jeez, what happened to "light-hearted superhero parody"?

I know right. This is getting down right depressing.
