To be fair, Ghsotbusters was killed by bad writing and production problems. the fact that the cast were women isnt the reason it was a poor film.

Exactly my view. And given the BBC's stances lately, I have little hope for the writers.

I am kinda pissed everyone just ignores the real first time the Doctor regenerated as a woman: https://youtu.be/Do-wDPoC6GM?t=1061

I did a timestamp in the link, but for the people unfamiliar with it I definitely recommend you watch it, because... Rowan Atkinson... do you need any other reason?

I am going to watch it and hope. But this guy wrote Cyberwoman and Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

Robert Holmes (one of DW's most renowned writers) also wrote "The Two Doctors" (one of DW's least popular stories). Let's give him a chance.

I'm just exhausted with all the sneering negativity I've seen from some corners of the web in response to this news. I chalk most of it up to MRA fuckheads.

I'm okay with her not being a ginger if they keep this running gag going.

Says who? I liked it, and I've seen it listed as one of the best of C.Baker's era.

The writing in Doctor Who has been very spotty for a while now. There are many other problems that need to be dealt with, and instead they seem to be going for a big publicity stunt. I think everyone will regret this if it is handled as badly as some recent issues.

I think the best part about this is that Moffat is finally gone, his writing was absolute garbage, it made the last season unwatchable for me,

Ya know, I've never understood the complaints about bad writing in Doctor Who. To me, bad writing is when a character does or says something that's completely out of character or picks up the Idiot Ball and does something no reasonable person would do in that situation. Beyond that, if it gets a laugh or at the very least makes sense, I don't usually criticize.

Then again, it's possible I just have lower standards than most people, at least when it comes to comedic sci-fi. I didn't mind the new Ghostbusters film (nowhere near as good as the original, but I expected that), I managed to find entertainment in Suicide Squad and BvS, and I actually liked Wild Wild West. *shrug*

Well as my father said "At least it's not Kris Marshall".

It looks like it'll be an interesting development to me. Maybe this could lead to a permanent male companion?
