Re: Magic: the Gathering - Innistrad
Oh man, this actually sounds super awesome, I used to play a lot of Magic as a kid and this seems like a really cool gameplay twist.

- Starts as human; - If no spells are cast on the last turn, they transform into Werewolves; - If the creature is a Werewolf and two or more spells are played on the last spell, the Werewolf reverts to human. Some transformations are more controllable, like mana cost or effects. However, the controlled transformations may lead to more power, but at a cost. For instance, Clustered Youth's transformation is more powerful, but chips away 1 life at each of your upkeep. Or in the case of the "Dr.Jeckyll" card, the transformed form had insane power, but very little toughness. Some of those transformations, you can't transform back from, so it can bite you in the keister if you're not careful. Garruk is one of those examples... Quote:
You might need to buy card protectors for those... |
Re: Magic: the Gathering - Innistrad
Yeah, flip cards were kind of lame. The art was cramped, the text boxes were cramped and it was difficult to figure out which side was up when they were attacking. DFCs just feel more elegant. And they were hella fun to play with in limited.

Re: Magic: the Gathering - Innistrad
Oh true, I completely forgot about the Kamigawa ones! Having double faced cards would work better for sure, I really like the setting/theme that they're using. Hmmm, if only I could track down someone I can play cards with!

Re: Magic: the Gathering - Innistrad
the instant problem I see with the transforming cards is they are Double faced, that means they are basically marked cards

One of my friends got crazy luck and scored three rares (regular, foil, and the DFC) in a single pack. |

Re: Magic: the Gathering - Innistrad
Thanks.
As I recall, the comic wasn't very good; evil dude jams the horned crown on the angel's head, and zap! she's a Fallen Angel, then the evil dude mopes and feels guilty for most of the comic, and the story never really goes anywhere. I believe there's another card in the game with a picture of an old witch-woman making one of those horned crowns, I don't think they ever explicitly made the connection though. |
