Flonne was shown to be able to switch between archangel and fallen angel at will in Disgaea 3 Rasberyl chapters. Which is part of the reason I'm sure that this takes place after D4.

Doubtful Disgaea D2 takes place ten years after the original Disgaea and Disgaea 2 takes place 2 years after it. The popularity that Axel mentions in D4 is the popularity he had from the overlord zenon stunt that he did, also flonne remembers meeting Beryl as well.

I find it amusing that people are hoping this doesn't turn out fanfictiony.

I think you are missing the point of Disgaea, I hope this will be every bit as fanfictiony as its sounds, calling itself out on it the whole time.

I'm not even that following of the Disgaea timeline, and even then I have no idea where Disgaea 4 fits into it.
All I know is that in that Flonne becomes an Archangel so it IS before that.
I hope.
Unless that mode switch is canon, which I think it is.

And I'm not hoping it's fanfictiony, I think it'll be hilarious, but the concept is definitely strange.

There is no continuity, both Zelda fans and Sonic fans that learn that live more happily, but then, many people LOVE to argue.

One can argue that the Zelda continuity is practically nonthere but Sonic has pretty much always had a consistent timeline to it.

But this is irrelevant to neat Disgaea stuffs so I should shut up now.

Its also pretty funny that he's considerably bustier than either of the girls, which knowing the series' sense of humor, will almost certainly be the focus of some of the humor.
