For MMD I just use the MikuMikuDance（64bitOS Ver). Of course, get the MikuMikuDance (DirectX 9) version if you don't have a 64-bit version of Windows. Ignore the older Multi Model edition, all the newer ones can handle multiple models I think. You may also need the various Visual C++ runtimes listed below it plus the DirectX 9 runtime. I believe the basic download comes with one model and a sample project. You'll find more guides and tutorials for MMD, its a bit more popular.

For MMM, the basic download will get you the bare basics. Be sure to install .NET 4 even if you think you have it. They update that thing fairly often and I'm not certain the exact version MMM needs. The plugins tab on the left column will get you some nice shaders made specifically for MikuMikuMoving since the standard FX from MMD are not yet compatible (he's working on it).

Both can handle PMD and PMX models although load times vary between 32 and 64 bit version on the high poly count models. 64 is a bit quicker. Also, I love the timeline editor in MMM, it just seems to flow better for me. I can play around in either but it feels less headache inducing in MMM. Projects are not transferable between the two programs, they each have their own format. The can share motion data though using the common VMD format.

Ha, wow. I put just a little itty bitty tiny bit of BE in one of my videos to observe the reaction and this is the result.

Posted here, and by Memo Pad no less. Good eye good sir!

I'm really flattered. Course as you know, it's not my model. vxaq3939 is probably a lot like me.

Though we love the BE, I think there's a degree of embarrassment surrounding it, too. Plus I think there's a bit more to Ariane's character than just straight up boobs. It's fun, but not the point.

If you can respect that.

Plus, even though I've only been using MMD for a short amount of time, I've already come across people on both sides of the spectrum complaining about Ariane's figure.

People will bash the model claiming she's too big or looks ridiculous. While others get too caught up in the BE and poor Ariane just winds up a sex-symbol.

I've been wanting to do something a bit more than just straight up MMD dance motions for some time.

I originally began my journey working on Ariane fanfiction, a piece called "Awe Curses!". Turned to MMD to see if I could perhaps animate some scenes, but there are numerous limitations, it's fairly time-consuming (To make a motion from scratch) and I don't have the objects or models I'm looking for.

Wish I was a bit more skilled.. but.. what can you do?

The overall plotline behind "Awe Curses" is that a pathetic necromancer looking to summon the goddess of death winds up accidentally summoning the goddess of dance instead. And various misadventures ensue. Ariane befriends a jealous flatchested vampire (a female bat turned human by one of the necromancers other failed rituals to reanimate the dead) and attempt to reunite Ariane with her sister Aira.

I'm currently working on the next chapter. (And the next video.)

Further BE is up in the air. I wanna make some... but I'm unsure how to proceed. :D I'm being delicate.

No.

The original creator had only one request when he gave me the models, not to redistribute them.

Because of a couple other people, it's entirely possible the original creator won't release his updated models, (or post anything again ever) due to this breach in trust.

It's a real shame. Silo worked really hard on these models, and his newer unreleased versions are amazing. But due to a couple "fans" that clearly don't give a damn about him or his feelings on the subject, we may have lost silo9 for good.

Well, if you have the time, please let him know that we care. It'd be a terrible shame to lose his great work over interpersonal issues; after all, isn't the only negative publicity none at all?

Yeah, I'm trying to let silo9 know exactly that. He's too awesome for this to be the way things play out. The negative shouldn't outweigh the positive. He's got fans and friends that legitimately want Ariane to be successful and popular.

And like me, I just want to spread the love for this model. Raise some awareness and get people talking and celebrating silo9's awesome work.

Maybe someone on here could assist me...

I'd like to make another video. A big thank you to Silo. Anybody here interested in maybe making a big image file I can use as a static background that says
"Thank You Silo"

I'd do it myself but I have none of those mad photoshop skillz.

Seems to like the colors of pink, purple and like a sky blue, like this color: ;)

I don't have any preferences. What I'm thinking is an image I can use for a background in another Ariane video.

So it'd be ideal if the thank you was centered but up high, in the upper half of the image.

I believe the image will stretch to cover the video space. I compress my videos to 640 x 480. So that'd be the most ideal background. It'll be static, so the background will remain fixed even if I pan the camera.

I say have some fun with it, put your own spin on it. Something festive and friendly, but don't scrutinize over it too much, doesn't have to be fancy.

But thank you. I'm sure that if Silo hasn't given up and abandoned the internet yet that he'd appreciate this very much.

So you're thinking purple text on blue background with maybe pink confetti accentuating?
Or maybe something more like a pink "neon" outline - or maybe pink "neon tube" lettering with a purple outline?

I'm really just spitballing for now to get some ideas, as I'm currently blitzed out of my mind. :cool:

What are you talking about according to his YouTube posts those models were being distributed on his blog not to certain selected individuals, I have had no luck contacting him either you know his Email or blog?

Actually yeah, that sounds great!

And to answer your question, Mike, I'm not sure how silo has decided to do things. I just know these are his characters and what he says goes. I think it's entirely natural and normal for him to want to keep at least some idea and control over who has his character.

Whatever he decides to do is totally his choice.

I will not be redistributing his stuff. If he wants to change how he distributes the model, that's totally his call.

I support him.. 100%.

I'm not trying to be hard-nosed about it. :( It's just not my work to hand out.

He posted links to them ocassionally on various japanese forums. The downloads were password locked, but he also gave the password.

Anyway, if he doesn't want them given out, I won't give em out, but what I can say is that there are at LEAST two versions of Ariane, one is significantly better than the other.
