I have the DVD, haven't watched it through in full though. You had a youtube clip before - I haven't posted anything from it. May do some ripping if someone needs it - eventually.

I have the Blu-Ray version and I can't rip anything from that. The youtube link got taken down some time ago. Fortunately I planned ahead for that and saved copies of the clip in mp4 and flv formats (only two I could from youtube) and I've edited the upload into my previous post (as a .rar because mp4 and flv are not supported file types here). So it should be covered at this point.

Just got my first blu-ray player today...hook it up this weekend - however since my intention was for region-free capability (at bargain basement prices: http://www.amazon.com/Sherwood-BDP-5...4682842&sr=8-1 , it may also limit my ripping of some films in the future since it means I'll have the opportunity to check them out in high-def from any region. .....then again, I also have netflix ;p

With a budget like that, it's probably not going to have much real process in it, but it looks like fun. And featuring Sora Aoi, and others...

Meh...review doesn't sound so hot. Will probably pass on it. Reviews of RoboGeisha have also been generally lukewarm - but I'll still netflix it.

OTOH - Mamoru Oshii's "Assault Girls" is a lot of fun - even if being extremely light on plot (and no process - but figured I'd mention it here anyways). Highly recommended if you ever checked out his previous live action "Avalon". Beautiful girls with big guns!

Long time, no update....finally a new trailer for HellDriver:

http://twitchfilm.com/news/2011/03/n...#comment-67330

" WELCOME TO ZOMBIE WORLD!

An alien-spawned, mysterious mist blankets the northern half of Japan, transforming those who inhale it into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies hell-bent on devouring the surviving human population. Plunged into chaos, Japan is torn in two--the southern half of the country, where the populace remains untouched by the deadly gas, lives behind a heavily-fortified wall, while the northern half is a lawless, zombie-infected wasteland. Political forces are locked in a stalemate over whether the living dead should remain protected as family members or exterminated like a plague. The economy withers away, and all hope seems lost for the people and the nation of Japan.

Hope arrives in the form of Kika (Yumiko Hara), a beautiful high school girl armed with a chainsaw sword powered by an artificial heart. Recruited by the government, Kika leads a ragtag group of desperados on a secret mission into the zombie-infected wilds to exterminate zombie queen Rikka (Eihi Shiina from AUDITION and TOKYO GORE POLICE) and put an end to the plague of the living dead. But the road is fraught with a thriving zombie culture that, with its own designs on the living half of Japan, refuses to lay down and die.

Visionary filmmaker Yoshihiro Nishimura's first solo directorial effort since TOKYO GORE POLICE is an epic, apocalyptic road movie featuring non-stop action and over-the-top splatter. The long-awaited realization of his dreams, HELLDRIVER is Nishimura's bid to create the ultimate zombie film.

The showdown for the future of Japan is at hand and no one, living or dead, may survive to see it!"

Hmm, this might not be the best time to be promoting a movie in which a disaster has affected the northern half of Japan...

Oh you. It's just a coincidence, there's really no reason to even bring it up. It has the words "Northern Japan" in it, not a big deal. It's not like I'm going to avoid playing Fallout 3 now because it has radiation in it. Now quit being silly.

Apparently it was just released by the producers in advance of this years HK Filmart as a normal promotion. Not my timing.

edit - it has already played at other festivals...this is for sales...hopefully a US DVD soon - still waiting on a release of Mutant Girl Squad somewhere.

Just watched my copy of Helldriver - some really great weirdness in it, but not as much TF-style material unfortunately. Still some great clips - might rip one or two in the next couple of days.

Also planning on picking Psycho Gothic Lolita up pretty soon and Mutant Girl Squad comes out on US dvd in May (not springing for the Australian release unless the features list is vastly different).

Also, please let me know if there are any clips previously posted that you'd like to see again. Everything I put up before was on megaupload so probably long gone - but I can reupload with rapidshare or something similar if there's anything you'd like to check out.

Re: Really Bizarre Japanese Films (clips)

The long-overdue update that absolutely nobody was waiting for ;p

Now this turned out to be an interesting situation. One movie I've been waiting for a long time, that turned out somewhat disappointingly. Another one that received somewhat shoddier reviews that seemed in my opinion to be a more solid product - conceptually and visually.

First: Psycho Gothic Lolita - saw the trailer a while back - posted in this thread. Reviews were pretty mixed but kinda low at amazon, dvdtalk, even twitch. Might just be that I'm kinda inclined towards the fashion - just check my site - but the main character was pretty well designed on the whole, excellent outfit, nice concept, albeit traditionally stereotypical backstory. One decent TF - clip below. One nice change was a heavier emphasis (comparatively speaking) on some practical effects over CGI and a little more variety in some of the deaths (at least compared to some other recent pics). Definitely worth a rental.

https://rapidshare.com/files/2402427...hic_Lolita.avi

On the other hand, we have Mutant Girls Squad. I've been waiting a long time for a decent release and the blu-ray/dvd combo is a great release with a ton of extra features. A few issues though - it's a big ensemble piece (with the same generic plot-kickstarter as PGL) , but with only one real exception (seen below), most of the character designs are pretty lackluster - especially for a sushi typhoon flick by the guys who brought us Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police and Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl. Similarly, a lot of the deaths are pretty toned down or feature far too much CGI and not nearly enough practical effects - very few come anywhere close to some of the previous flicks mentioned above. On the whole, it definitely seems to have a few disjointed issues - possibly partly related to having 3 different directors - each of whom has previously done their own extreme flicks, but here is only responsible for 1/3 of the movie. Basically, it's a bit of a disappointment that several years and movies after Tokyo Gore Police, we haven't seen anything (even from it's creators) come close to rivaling it in design or style.

clips - Yoshie the amazing tentacle-girl/cosplay nurse - the kawaii highlight of the flick - actually shown even more in her own short film included as an extra feature - partial clip here. Not sure why I still can't get the subs to rip right.

https://rapidshare.com/files/3445167597/Yoshie_1.avi

There are certainly some other decent process-y type clips in the film (see below for example), but certainly nothing nearly as inventive as the girl in TGP whose legs and crotch turn into an alligator mouth or anything similar.

https://rapidshare.com/files/2126272856/Mutant_1.avi

Lastly, there is this trailer as well for "Mask The Kekkou Reborn" - looks pretty bad :p

Nice find. The Funky Forest (referenced in second clip) had some "unique" visual moments, but was overall very underwhelming for me (despite the reviews I'd read in advance).

Hopefully by this weekend I'll get it uploaded.

In the meantime....here's a trailer for Noboru Iguchi's upcoming "Gothic Lolita Battle Bear."

Ok. Link to the full clip from Tokyo Gore Police (a little long).

And...now that I see it again, not really any process for the gator-crotch, but still some great general weirdness.

Warning! Very graphic violence and general gross-ness. Not for the faint of heart.

Er...wow. Thank you Japanese culture for bringing us some, erm, INTERESTING television programming lol.

Makes me wish I lived over there instead of the same boring crap we get in the US though. Clip would've been a lot better if we got to see the TF.

Are there any other actual Japanese TF clips like that but that show process?

Re: Really Bizarre Japanese Films (clips)

It's actually from a movie. Doubt you'd get that on any normal Japanese show. I've got a couple dvd editions now and thinking about picking up the blu-ray...

This is coming from a film that also includes a penis cannon and a quad amputee with alternating katanas and machine guns in place of limbs...not exactly normal under any circumstances.

Basically...most of the Sushi Typhoon studio flicks are the Japanese equivalent of Troma - with a few dedicated directors (see also Meatball Machine, The Machine Girl, Hell Driver, Mutant Girl Squad, Robo-Geisha and a few others including Dead Sushi (still haven't seen)).

For Troma comparisons...you can consider "Tromeo and Juliet" (discussed here before), Class of Nuke'em High series, Pterodactyl Woman of Beverly Hills and others...the acting in the Japanese flicks may not be that much better...but I can give it a pass...plus IMO, the girls are cuter most of the time.

Most of the movies I've previously referenced/linked here have some really bizarre stuff, but as I've previously mentioned, most of my old megaupload links are long gone. Look through the thread if you want and ask, and I can probably re-upload to rapidshare.

Not sure yet how much I'll enjoy it after shotgunning the first anime season back in spring '14. Guess it depends how the characterizations work out - since they're obviously going for a fully Japanese cast as opposed to the mixed one from the show.

The big blonde titan is one of the humans in the cast, right? Does it look like the movie will get to that point? I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the movie cover the manga up to this point, and skip over everything people like to maintain that pace, seeing as how that dull devilman movie covered the entire storyline.

It was Japanese, of course, there were two women, one of them ended up growing a cock a couple of feet long. Includes Titan on Titan action. Still doesn't look like it'll take the plot too far though - compared to the anime. I'm not seeing any indication yet of a journey outside the walls - but it will be out in Japan in just a couple of months.

Don't bother with it. Somehow they managed to make a film about a girl that grows a two foot cock boring.

Includes Titan on Titan action. Still doesn't look like it'll take the plot too far though - compared to the anime. I'm not seeing any indication yet of a journey outside the walls - but it will be out in Japan in just a couple of months.

Movie to be released in two part in Theaters and on VOD in US in August and September. Here is the article:) http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2...-the-americas/

Somehow I missed these on Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's youtube page:

a bit of poof - but definitely weird enough - one has some evident TG as well - interesting just like all her music vids.

Kind of a Bizarre version of Alice in Wonderland, there is a growth sequence and other weird transformations in the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLQcDzFriy4

Its not really Alice in Wonderland but based on a OAV anime with a quick giantess scene in it.

Dug up this reference based on the trailer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sh%C5%8Djo_Tsubaki

But surprisingly enough I don't see anything else about it on twitch or other sites.

Geez, that live action adaption looks rough and a bit unfortunate. Say what you will about the material in the source manga or the animated adaption, Suehiro Maruo really has unique style to his art.
