Bump. This story is awesome. I'd hate to see support for it die out.

Bump so the awesomeness isn't lost!

I'm sorry everyone, it's just been hell at the shop lately. Most night I get home too tired to read the forums, much less write for them.
I did get bit by the writing bug pretty hard when I read through this thread, however: http://www.process-productions.com/f...ead.php?t=9049 Enough that I had to at least start the story of the four girls and their changes before my head popped open from keeping it inside. ;) Now that I've gotten that started, though, I can continue this one. Like I said, it's going to get good soon; I just haven't had the time to put it to paper. |
Thanks for the update SoylentOrange.
The show must go on ! |
Interesting story you've got here, several weird things goin on and its certainly the most original TF story I've read lol.

Ok, you guys have waited long enough. Get ready for the continuing story of "Body, Mind, and Flesh"!

Re: New TF Story
All right, here we go. Sorry if it's a bit slow here; we're in the calm before the storm, it's gonna get alot more interesting soon enough.
Next update- a new character joins our intrepid duo! :D ========================================= After satiating The Body on plants and insects again (And an unlucky squirrel she accidentally snared in one of her tentacle-whips before she saw it) Mary made her way home. Midway there the cloud cover stopped letting the sun through entirely, turning dark briefly before starting to rain. "Better get inside..." Mary mumbled as she looked up at the sky, wincing as a drop of rain landed in her eye. Mary went to wipe her eye, but by te time her hand reached her face she'd already "drank" the water. Mary noticed with a start that she was "drinking" the water as soon as it landed on her- even as the rain began to get heavier she was more or less dry. But where The Flesh drank... Mary broke into a run for her apartment as the skies rumbled. She knew if it started raining in earnest she'd bloat up like a balloon, and she culdn't afford to let the flesh-tentacles out in the wild. She could taste every drop of rain as it fell on her, and it was starting to build up- already she felt the undersides of her arms getting baggy, her stomach buldging only just noticably with fat. "Come on..." She muttered to herself as she ran, her apartment complex a swatch of peach-colored stucco between the pines and firs. She willed her body to be faster, uncertain of how or what but just wanting to be faster. "You're supposed to have the knowledge of all these different animals, right?" She said to herself as her face filled out with fat, jowls bouncing slightly with every stride. "So make me fast!" Mary was almost thrown into a tree as her strides suddenly became great bounds, each step launching her over a dozen feet forward. Mary could feel that her feet and legs had changed somewhat, but with the momentum she'd built up she didn't dare stop to look for fear of running headlong into a tree. The trees thinned as she approached the parking lot, but Mary didn't slow down; the water-weight was beginning to strain at her clothes, she needed to get inside pronto. With a few strides across the parking lot, Mary closed the distance to her apartment, leaping bodily all the way up to the second-floor hallway and going into Katie's old apartment. Mary had already begun to shed the tentacles as she shut the door behind her, the pockets of fat bunching up and dripping off of her to go help expand her "lair". Once again she noticed they'd curled up around her furniture, and Mary mentally pushed them back into the corner. She stopped for a second and looked down, realizing she'd reverted back to her human feet without even noticing it. She was also aware that for as hard and fast as she'd ran, she wasn't out of breath in the slightest. She was, however, hungry. Mary went to the fridge and gorged herself for a few minutes, being careful not to lose herself in the sensation. She pulled herself away from the food, if a bit reluctantly, and went to check on her laundry. She took the sheets from the washer and shoved them in the dryer, her hands and fingers spreading to grab all the laundry at once. "Boy this is handy, except for the whole 'Parasite' thing," Mary chuckled as she grew extra arms to turn dials and push buttons and toss in fabric softener as needed. Laundry done, Mary went into her bedroom, turning on her computer. She had an idea about who to ask about her little parasite problem. Firing up her intenet browser, she went to the website for the Center for Disease Control and looked around for contact information. After a bit of searching, she was able to find a link that would allow her to send an "alert" for dangerous infections or plagues. "I suppose this counts as a plague, though a well-contained one... so far." Mary wrote the message out, trying to sound as specific as she could without sounding crazy: "To whom it may concern: I have recently come into contact with a parasitic organism that affects human hosts. While it does not appear to be lethal or contaigous, the effects are nonetheless serious and... disturbing. No ordinary remedies appear to be helpful. What can I do to get the CDC to study this new parasite?" Mary sent the message along with her contact info and stepped back from the computer. She hoped she'd be able to find some sort of answer while she was still able to keep it more or less under control. Mary passed the rest of the day uneventfully. The rain was a minor annoyance, the hole the parasite-laden meteorite had punched in her room was patched up by commanding a small clot of the lair tentacles to cover the hole and stay there. It was a good enough temporary fix, and Mary had to admit she liked the sensation of the rainwater hitting her, even if the piece of "her" that was getting wet was little more than a wad of ropey flesh. When Mary heard Katie come home that night, she stuck her head down through the hole in the ceiling to see how she was doing. "Hey there," Mary said, causing Katie to jump back and grab her bag to her chest., "Oh! Oh, it's you. Good grief, girl, don't do that to me!" Katie said, setting her bag on the table and running an hand back over her hair. "Ooo, haunted apartment..." Mary countered, making a goofy face and shaking her head back and forth. "You're looking good- glad to see that last injection took." "Yeah, looks like it," Katie said, looking down at herself. "Haven't felt anything wierd at all." SHe looked back up at Mary and frowned. "Too bad you can't do it for yourself." "Well, I wrote to the CDC today, asking for advice." "Say what?" Katie snapped. "Don't worry, I was vague enough so they shouldn't be coming around looking to lock me in an oversized test tube or anything. Hopefully they can at least point me in the right direction, because something needs to happen here. I drank bleach this afternoon for crying out loud." "Bleach?" Katie asked. "Bleach. You drank bleach." "What?" Mary said, feeling like she was being picked on. "It was just a little bit..." Katie just shook her head. "Can you come down here? It's wigging me out to have to talk to you through the hole in the floor." "Sure, I'll just-" "NOT through the hole." Katie orderd, and Mary stopped her attempt to push herself through the hole in the floor. "Okay, okay, geeze..." Mary said, pulling her head into her own apartment and leaving out the door. "So what's this nonsense about the CDC?" Katie asked once Mary was back inside her apartment. "Oh, nothing really. Just a quick e-mail question about parasites. Hopefully I'll get a response back and we can start figuring out how to get rid of this stuff." Katie took her mug of tea and sat at the kitchen table. "I've been thinking about that, Mary..." She started, sounding particularly serious. "...Thinking about what?" Mary said, taking a seat across from her. "'Getting rid of it', as you said. After what you did to me earlier-" "Katie, I said I swore I'd never do that again!" Mary said, frowning. "You've got to believe me!" "I do! I do!" Katie quickly assured her friend. "It's just... well..." "Well, what?" "I don't know if Mr. Body will let it be up to you if it comes down to it." A chill ran over Mary's skin, like she'd been immersed in cold water. "...What do you mean, Katie?" Katie took a big gulp of tea before rising from her seat and pacing the small kitchen. "Let's say we find a way to kill this... whatever it is." "Without killing me," Mary added. "Right," Katie continued, "But even if we do, it's going to fight back. Nothing wants to die, it'll try to stay alive." "And?" "And, well, what if it tries to use me? Like, in a bad way?" Katie asked, still pacing. "I know you've got some protection as the 'brain' or 'mind' or whatever, but you said it yourself, this thing sees me as little more than a walking lunchbox. If that thing somehow took me over and sent me after you..." "what, you'd smother me with your giant boobs?" Mary said, trying to make light of the situation. "I'm serious, Mary!" Katie said, stamping her foot on the ground. "If it can change me one way, what's keeping it from changing me another? All fangs and claws and stuff?" "Katie, Katie," Mary said, rising from her chair and taking Katie's head in her hands. "Look at me. We're friends. I'd never let that happen. I'd toss myelf in a furnace before I let anything bad happen to you." "...You mean it?" Katie said, eyes brimming with tears. "I promise," Mary said, taking Katie's head to her shoulder and hugging her. "We'll figure this out, Katie, you'll see. Everything will be fine." |

Slight delay on the next bit- after seeing Hmm!'s insanely sexy Juggalos piece here:
http://spiralingstaircase.deviantart...rixie-79290748 I was inspired to write a short Juggalos story of my own. Once I get that out of my system, though, it's right back to Mary, Katie, and Anne! |

I apologize again for the delay. Stupid Hmm! and his stupid great art.
After seeing his "Maddi's Induction" pic I couldn't get the girl out of my head, and now Hmm! and I are working on an Illustrated Juggalos story featuring the girl as a reluctant waitress. Here's a sketch of some of the action- Maddi's a bit sour on her job so the manager slipped her a bit of "Tickle Tonic"- can't have a pouty face for the guests when the slightest touch of a cold plate sets you to giggling! :D Again, I apologize- I've tried to work on the story, but Maddie just keeps forcing herself into my brain, squeezing into all the tiny cracks of my free thoughts, which is no small feat considering her girth! ;) |
Re: New TF Story
idea for victim of TF.
one of the cops that come to arrest mary under suspicion of kidnapping or murder. someone who's had several years on the force, knows all the laws and means to take down people. in order to keep from eating him/her, mary decides to turn them i suppose the TF would make them into a soldier. something to defend the Body, Flesh, and Mind when needed. i imagine a mix between full body armor and tentacles. maybe a bit of a mental TF to protect the Trifecta as much as much as they worked for the force. i'm sure once the police get captured though, things will start spiraling out of control. also, maybe without mary knowing it, the Body slowly starts putting small faint suggestions. sort of slowly twisting mary's will to that of the Body. not that she'll want to eat people, i doubt the Body would risk her noticing her mental changes with such a big leap, but make her like the idea of changing others. more willing, maybe even eager. i just love mental TF along with Physical really. something to think about. |

Re: New TF Story
Darth Vader voice: Impressive...
Really, it's not often I'm treated to such a detailed and original story. Keep up the good work. I eagerly await more. Something occured to me now that I think about your request for character ideas. How about this? Someone close to Mary, a relative or friend or otherwise is suffering from an incurable illness and Mary sees an opportunity to put The Flesh's abilities to a good use (that is if she can pull it off with the proper amount of discrecion) Type of transformation? Hmm...Katie seems to have been landed as Mary's refreshment table and someone has already thought of a "soldier" type, what if this person got a "breeder" type role? I have noticed the lair building process seems kinda slow so such a subordinate to speed along the process might make sense. Just throwing out ideas. |
Re: New TF Story
Very interesting. I never knew tentacles could be so... useful.
I really enjoy reading this wonderfully written story. Description and plot development are really well played. I know you have a long list of victims to transform, but would you mind considering this one? Name: Daniel, "Dan" for short age:16 gender:male general appearance: Medium build, thick hands, 5' 7" tall, 165 lbs., dyed-blue short spiky hair, sapphire blue eyes, light skin tone. usually wears a dirty old and worn blue jeans with a ripped up dirty white shirt. vague personality: Dan is self conscious about his appearance. He tries very hard to look appropriately in public. which is very hard when he lost his home. behind his piercing eyes is a glint of remorse and sorrow. but feeling bad about it now won't bring food to his stomach. he developed a sharp wit and fast reflexes while he was on the streets. he holds a health respect for life. short history: Dan's parents had divorced 11 years later after he was born. He was left with his abusive father while his mother went over seas. after 3 years of taking beatings from his father, Daniel, in a fit of rage, killed his father and ran away in his adrenaline. while on the streets begging for food, a small gang welcomed him into their ranks. he is the youngest of all the gang members. while still new to the life of thugs, he still holds to the morals he learned for himself about life. moment of tf: during on of the gangs muggings. He and 2-3 others find and corner Mary in an alley way. During the confrontation between Mary and the thugs. Daniel senses danger and tries to convince the others to let Mary go. seeing this as a sign of weakness the thugs knock him unconscious (at least they think they do). The Body defends Mary from the 'predators'/thugs and changes Daniel's 'friends' into The Flesh. Dan lies deathly still hoping that 'the monster' (Mary) will also think he's unconscious and leave before he gets the same fate as his comrades. Mary debates with The Body to change the boy into a predator for them instead of eating him. The Body sourly agrees. thinking ahead, Mary thinks of a body to sneak him from the alley way to her apartment. TF into: humanoid rapter with a prehensile tail. four scaly toned arms with three talon like fingers. black spines from the top of his head to the tip of his tail. light and agile with the ability to turn 'invisible' (think uber chameleon) The coloration of the scales is a swirl of blue and green. with the same piercing blue eyes. that was just off the top of my head. if you'd like more description in the personality or history just say so. |
Re: New TF Story
I can't help but notice that's a male character sheet and transformation, albeit a well written one, : /
|
Re: New TF Story
Quote:
eh, well it doesn't have to be male. I just thought to get in more details so Soylent doesn't have to do all the work. if it were a real character sheet, by my standards, it would also have skills and abilities in both human and Flesh form. with maybe a story of how he acts around others. and if it were and RP sheet it probably would have strengths and weaknesses. But the Flesh form of Dan is nothing compared to the inventive and creative ideas of 'Plop plop fizz fizz' and his random lackeys. |

now that you mention it, it does seem one sided here. meh everyone has their preference. I've been told that variety is the spice in life. now I'm not saying to do more male manipulations... just... I don't know... make them non gendered, but still masculine.

Re: New TF Story
Wow, just read this storyline. Awesome stuff Soy.
So what you're saying is you need someone to dish out some spiffy art for this story to win your attention again ;P |
Re: New TF Story

Well, here you go! It doesn't look like this has been done yet and seeing as how it's seemingly my fault for pulling Soy's attention elsewhere, here I am making up for it somewhat. I pulled what desccrpitives I could find for the two girls, and I threw them in suits since it seemed appropriate due to their schooling. How close did I get them right?
My original plan was to snipe this thread with a picture depicting one of the TFs but I figured they need faces before I change things. Enjoy, Soy! :D EDIT: I guess I'll make this post my center of artistic operation for this story. Herein you'll find various depictions from different parts of the story. |
Re: New TF Story
Wonderful, wonderful!
You know, it was your art that made me stop writing on this story... it might very well be your art that gets me to start on it again... ;) |
Re: New TF Story
Haha, thanks, Soy. :)
I do what I can, y'know? Don't think you're completely off the hook on Juggalos now! I *will* have withdrawls, you know that. ;) |
Re: New TF Story
Okay everyone, I've started writing on this again, since Hmmm!'s allowing me a bit of a respite, at least until the third Juggalos pic gets finished. Meantime, I've come to a TF scene that could go one of two ways, and in my indecision I've decided to put it up to you guys! :)
Mary needs to get somewhere in a real hurry, and Katie's off at school with the only car. Would you rather hear about her turning tino a kind of avian shape to fly there, or some sort of quadrapedal animal to run there? I'll let this sit here and get a few opinions before I continue on, so let's hear it! :D |
Re: New TF Story
Thanks for continuing the story !!!
Is it possible to get both ? (e.g. The Flesh founds that either one is inefficient, so switches to another one...) Could you make a .txt file of all the chapters, so it's easier to read/download ? |
Re: New TF Story
Nope, gotta be one or the other. This is far from the last time Mary will need to transform, though, so don't worry about picking one ruining your chances of seeing another. ;)
|
Re: New TF Story
Quite personally, I am a big fan of birds. But I came across this little snippet earlier and found it pretty fascinating:
"If a Tiger Beetle were the size of a human, it could run to speeds over 300mph/494kmph, if it is speed to size ratio, then the Tiger Beetle would be the fastest animal in the world." ..beetle-like TF? Might be streamlined and fast enough to get her by without eliciting much more from anyone than a, "Whoa, was that the wind?!" |
Re: New TF Story
I don't think Mary's willing to do an insect TF on herself... @_@
...So, can I take your vote as "Avian", then, failing any beetlemania? ;) |
Re: New TF Story
haha, yes, avian for me. :)
Might help keep her up and out of sight. |
Re: New TF Story
I don't think the "out of sight" part was ever a *real* concern- with all the planet's worth of genetic memory the Body brings with it, I'm sure "chameleon skin" is in there somewhere... :D
|
Re: New TF Story
Note to self: Read this sometime...
I have scanned this and have liked what I have seen so far, but there is a lot of it, and I need sleep. This post is here so I can more easily find the thread. |
Re: New TF Story
i vote for quadrupedal.
|
Re: New TF Story
I vote Avian, but then she flies too high and accidently hits a helicopter or plane, and The Body takes over and eats it, Mary inside screaming, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo......."
:D |
Re: New TF Story
Hmm...thats tough. I think quadruped would be...uninteresting? I mean when you read a story about a girl that can squeeze through a tennis ball sized hole, running on four legs just doesn't seem as interesting. That and it seems the Body's natural form has to do with tentacles so it would seem more likely to have a beast with 8 or more legs than just 4.
Avian on the other hand would be interesting for both the reader and for Mary. It's always been a human dream to fly without machines, so I could easily imagine Mary finding air travel a much more fun and safe way to get around. And this option does allow for maybe some more interesting events. as Flango said "but then she flies too high and accidently hits a helicopter or plane, and The Body takes over and eats it, Mary inside screaming." Or maybe she's hit and then gets splats onto the ground below, sending pieces of her flying all over, forcing her to put her self back together. It could either be all at once, or she could go around looking for individual bits and tentacles of herself as she's half formed. So basically I vote Avian. |

Re: New TF Story
Hi Soy,
I just wanted to say - this story is amazing! I love the detail and it is one of the very, very, very few alien tfs i can actually find on the internet (I kinda have a fetish for alien/slime/tentacle tfs - which are all in the story):D. Hope you continue writing this story! BTW, if its not too late, I vote for avian too, but maybe an alien kind of avian creature? That can fly much faster than a normal earth bird? Just a suggestion... |
Re: New TF Story
"We'll figure this out, Katie, you'll see. Everything will be fine."
Mary had another night of fitful sleep, plagued by nightmares, terrible seeds planted in her imagination by Katie flowering into nightmarish visions. She imagined Katie turning into something lean and feral, Arms and legs buldging with muscle, neck lengthening and face squashing down into a blunt, fang-rimmed muzzle, terrible claws on her fingers and toes, only her inhumanly-prodigious bustline the only part untouched as her best friend became a monster and attacked her. Mary could only flail helplessly as she was torn limb from limb, the wounds frightening and distressing but not painful. The Katie-monster paused, and Mary re-formed herself, the flesh of her body seperating into tentacles and reforming into the tentacle-monster. With one crack of a whip-like tentacle, Mary seperated the Katie-Monster's head from its body, the tentacle cracking with such speed and precision it severed the head as cleanly as a guillotine. Mary woke up with a choked cry attempting to escape her lips. She looked around, feeling as though she was wrapped in blankets. she heached a hand up to her face and felt the thick, pliable mass of tentacles between her and her hand. She realized the tentacles had wrapped themselves around her in some sort of defensive coccoon, probably her entire "lair" smothering her (yet, she noticed, not hampering her ability to breathe at all). "Off! Off!" Mary yelled at the mass, thrashing her arms as she sat up. The tentacles dropped off of her, slithering out of the bedroom and back to their normal spot in the corner. Mary put a hand to her heart, expecting to feel it pounding in her chest, before realizing there was no heart there to pound. Heven so, she took a few deep breaths to steady herself from her nightmare. "What was the meaning of that sensation?" She heard the Body ask, giving her another start. "Where was that meat that attacked us? Why do we not feel the wounds iflicted?" Mary paused, noting the Body's voice in her head. Was that actual fear she'd just heard? "It was just a dream," Mary said. "A nightmare." "What does it come from?" The body asked. "We were helpless to attack or defend. We were as prisoners." Mary realized that of all the species The Body had ever incorporated into The Flesh, humans were apparently the first that had dreams, and Mary was glad for anything that made the Body uneasy. Mary got up and got dressed, noting with dismay that she or her tentacles or something had started to eat her sheets while she'd been sleeping, a large divot of linen and mattress stuffing gone from where she'd been laying. Grumbling, Mary began getting dressed, only to be interrupted halfway through by the phone ringing. Mary started to go to get it, but stopped when she remembered she was in Katie's apartment- it certainly wouldn't look okay for her to be answering katie's phone when she was off at school. The answering machine beeped, the electric monotone giving out the usual "Please leave a message after the tone" spiel. "Mary!?" Katie's voice called out, obviously in a panic. Mary tensed up, her shirt only half-pulled down her stomach. "MAry, are you there? Pick up!!" Mary raced to the phone, pulling the handset off the cradle. "Katie?" She yelled into the receiver. "What's the matter? What's wrong?" "It weore off!" Katie sobbed. "Right in the middle of lecture it started wearing off!" "Oh my God, Katie, are you all right? Did anyone see you?" "I- I'm okay, except for, you know.." Katie sniffled. "I made it to the bathroom before, uh, anything big happeed, but half the class and the school nurse are outside the door and I'm- well-" "-boobzilla?" "Yes!" "So what can I do?" Mary asked. "I need you to bring an injection- some of 'my medicine'." "A what? How?" "I don't care how, Mary, I just need youto bring it!" Katie pleaded. "I can't let anyone see me like this!" "Okay, okay, I'll get over there as soon as I can. I'm already dressed." "O-okay," Katie said, a little calmer though still hitching breaths. "All right? I'll be there as soon as I can." "All right. See you soon..." Mary blew a breath out as she hung the phone back up, putting the handset down on the table. How was she going to get to the university? Katie had the only car, and there wasn't really anyone in the complex she could ask for a ride. Could she take the bus? Call a taxi? But they were much too slow, Mary needed to leave *now*, before anyone decided to take a peek at Katie and see what happened to her. Mary paused, an idea coming to her. She focused her thoughts inward, seeking out The Body. "Can you make me into something fast?" She asked, remembering the way her legs had shifted when she was outrunning the rain. "Like, really fast?" "The will of the mind is the shall of the Flesh," the Body replied. "The knowledge of every meat the Flesh has incorporated into its great purpose exists within all flesh. The Mind need merely will it and the Flesh obeys." "Okay, so, uh... what do you have that flies?" Mary asked, feeling like a confused shopper in a hardware store. In response Mary felt the skin on her hands and feet begin to harden. "Whoa, whoa, wait!" Mary yelled, trying to halt the change. She was able to slow the transformation down, but it didn't truly stop until she felt the Body stop of its own volition. "This is the most efficient airborne meat to ever be incorporated into our glory," The body said. "Is this not what you wished?" "Not inside it's not, doofus," Mary chided. She started towards the door, stalling when she realized that once she transformed and got to Katie, she'd probably need to transform back into a human, which meant she'd need to find some clothes once she got there. The only sensible thing to do would be to bring the clothes with her somehow. Mary went back to the kitchen, fishing one of the plastic grocery sacks out of the recycle bin from when she and Katie had gotten all that food. After shaking out the bag a few times to get it un-crumpled, mary quickly disrobed, folding up the clothes and stuffing them into the bad before tying the bag's two handles together in a knot. Mary went to the door, cracking it open and taking a peek outside to make sure the coast was clear before going outside and climbing up onto the roof, the knot of the bag clenched in her teeth. "Okay," She thought to the Body, "*now* you can continue turning me into whatever that thing was." The Body wasted no time. Mary felt herself shrinking, her hands and feet finishing their hardening, the skin taking on the rough, pebbled texture of bird's feet. Mary felt a twisted stretching senseation, like she was being put into a taffy machine, her back feeling like it was being pulled apart save for the fact that her spine stayed where it was. Her arms and legs began to fold together involuntarily, tucking in close to her body. "Ho-o-o-o-kay, starting to get wierded out now," Mary thought as she felt her face begin to flatten out, her nose and mouth squeezing together as her face rearranged itself into something beastial. It actually bothered mary less, she thought distractedly, to pull her human face in half than it was to have it change into something so strange. The pulling sensation on her back seemed to fade, and Mary fould feel a great expanse of flesh extending out of her sides, two fleshy membranes that Mary coule only sense, since at this stage of the transformation she had no neck to speak of. Her vision fuzzed slightly as her eyes migrated to the sides of her mouth, her features now seemingly plastered on the wide curve of flesh that her front seemed to have become. With a last stretching sensation from her backside, the transformation appeared to stop. "...What in the hell did you turn me into?!" Mary thought, feeling awkward and disoriented in her new shape. From what she could feel, it appeared that she was a wide, flat creature with a fan-like tail and four short, clawed appendages. In trying to picture the creature in her mind, The best Mary could come up with was a manta ray crossed with an eagle except with arms. "You wished for a form that raced through the air," The Body replied. "This is one of the most wondrous additions to our glory in that regard." "And this thing's supposed to fly somehow...?" Mary asked, taking an awkward step. She could barely keep her balance on the Manta-bird's unusual appendages. "Embrace the knowledge of the Flesh," The Body said. "What one flesh knows, all flesh knows." "Right," Mary said, rapidly losing patience. "Look, I'm in a hurry, so how about you fly this thing and I'll steer, okay?" "As you wish," The Body said, hunkering the creature down next to the edge of the roof. "Oh, and how about some chameleon skin, since I don't want to be a UFI over here...?" Mary asked. "What creature is this 'Chameleon'?" The Body asked, pausing. "Would it be a beneficial addition to our glory?" "Oh, whoops, guess you haven't eaten one of those yet," Mary thought. "It's a lizard that can change the color of its skin, to blend in with its surroundings." "Ah, we understand," The Body said. "Though not of the same name, we have incorporated such abilities into our glory." Maty felt a tingle crawl across her skin, and knew that the Body had made her effectively invisible, the Flesh's camoflaughe a hundred times more efficient and adptable than any lizard on earth. "So when do we gooooowaaaa!" Mare thought, only the sensation of the plastic knot between her needle-like teeth keeping her from gasping as she was launched into the air by a sudden lunge from her limbs. She saw the parking lot and the other apartment buildings falling away from her like she was a jetliner. Only by virtue of a second pair of translucent eyelids was Mary able to see anything without her eyes watering up. Mary was amazed at the sensations she was feeling from her fleshy "wings"- instead of large up-and-down flaps, her wings were vibrating in a wave-like pattern, hundreds of times per second, pushing the air from front to back like the blades on a propeller, only laterally. The tail on the back was being used to steer and adjust altitude, the flat, fleshy tailfanning out or constricting depending on where the creature wanted to be propelled. Mary found the speed at which she was hurtling through the air disconcerting, but so long as the Body knew what it was doing... "No!" Mary thought to herself. "Don't get comfortable with this! Don't get used to it! Remember, you want this thing out of your body eventually! Or, you out of its body, or whatever..." Mary sighed inwardly, coaxing the manta-bird toward her school. Mary wasn't sure how far it was to the university "as the crow flies", or even whatever this thing was, but she knew how to get there via the freeway, which she followed a few hundred feet above. It occurred to her that even if her chameleon-camoflauge was perfect, the bag dangling from her wouth wouldn't be. But from this height, it'd be little more than a dark speck against the sky, easily mistaken for some small bird. She hoped. Finally, Mary's school came into view. She directed the creature lower, looking for the landmarks that would tell her which building was which- they all looked very much aloke from the air, after all. "Let's see," Mary thought to herself, "If today's friday, and Mary ran out of her morning class, that mean's she's probably in building 26," She figured, urging the creature to the building's roof. "By the way," she though to the Body, "I sure hope you know how to land this thing..." The creature seemed to be angling itself to land on the building's roof, but Mary noticed the creature's altitude dipping more and more dangerously low. "Uh, we are supposed to be landing on *top* of the building, right?" She asked, to no reply. Mary watched as the horizon of the roof dipped lower and lower, until it actually rose above where she could look with her new eyes. "Aack!" Mary screamed mentally, "Pull up pull up pull UP!" All Mary could do was close her eyes as the wall of the building zoomed towards her, until a sickening lurch nearly caused her to lose her grip on the plastic bag with her clothes. Mary opened her eyes, taking a moment to orient herself. She was looking straight up the side of the building, her four sets of claws sunk into the stucco exterior and her body pressed flat against the wall. "Wow," Mary thought, realizing she was back in control of her body more or less. "Well, any landing you can walk away from..." She mused as she used her claws to scale the last little bit of the wall, flopping over onto the roof. "Finally," Mary thought, opening her mouth and shaking the bag loose. "I've had about enough time flying for one lifetime. Let's get things back to normal." She willed herself human again, relieved to feel everything stretching and growing and getting back into place. Mary tore open the bag as soon as she had servicable fingers again, quickly dressing herself. "Okay, pants, shirt, underwear..." Mary said, glad to have amouth capable of speech again. "..aw, shoot!" She exclaimed, realizing she had fogotten to pack so much as a pair of socks for her feet. "Okay, no big deal, no one ever looks at people's shoes..." She said as she walked to the stairwell. Her shoe troubles were quickly forgotten, though, as she went to open the door and the knob jammed in place. A few experimental rattles confirmed that the door was locked. "Fabulous," Mary fumed as she looked around for some other way to get down. "Just fabulous." |
