I'm really feeling Matsu's pain right now. Having to deal with people who can't control their ambitions for 2 seconds. If you want nipples, get the fuck out of this thread and go find it somewhere else. There are plenty elsewhere, I assure you! Oh, "but no, I like Matsu's art so I wanna see nipples in his style!" Well that's a huge never people. Get it through your thick skulls that each time you're requesting what he loathes in doing this type of art is making your image look worse and worse. Do you even care how he feels, or how he's felt when he first signed up here? No, obviously you don't. Get over your dicks people, or better yet, learn to fuckin' draw yourselves.

No. How many artists have stopped working (or at least posting) and disappeared from the board because of this shit? What are we, 8 years old? Do we actually need someone to stop in and explain that the world doesn't revolve around you?

Has anyone, even for a moment, considered withholding their personal and uniquely creepy suggestions when an artist plainly states that they're not taking them? If not out of respect, then for efficiency's sake at least?

I am an artist. My sketchbooks are generously littered with my own brand of sexy, and I would post all manner of wonderful things if it weren't for the way that people get all weird and pushy when it comes to their fetish. Seriously, click through a few topics on the front page and try to find a single artwork thread which isn't full of passive-aggressive "well this is great but it'd be really nice if the linework was finished" or "love this, would like to see them bigger too" comments.

PROTIP: You're getting shit for free; this doesn't mean that people should give you more and personally-tailored shit for free. Sorry.

Hey Matt, real easy solution to all this: Put "I don't draw nipples, either." in your sig. That should cut down a bit on it somewhat.

It sounds like you and these artists need to calm down... when people say stuff like that you don't need to fly off the handle. It's not like they're saying 'do this or die' or whatever, its just feedback or suggestion. If all artists' want is their ego to be stroked with nothing but 'good job' or 'oh my god this is awesome' then they probably shouldn't be posting their stuff here, or perhaps not even on a forum in the first place.

If an artist doesn't want to see the bad replies/comments with the good replies/comments then post it on DA with comments disabled... Its one or the other, and quite frankly theres no reason to fly off the handle when someone simply says 'that'd look great bigger' or 'that'd look great with nipples'. Unless of course they constantly pester you in which case we have the technology to simply add them to the ignore list instead of making a whole scene of it.

TLDR: they're posting their art on a site with software based on talking... what do they expect?

So it's the artist's fault, then? For not ignoring everyone hard enough? For burning out when day after day, month after month, despite postings and public notices, after flames and ignore-lists, there are still people coming out of the woodwork to imply that the only thing that really matters is whether you do futa/longer legs/more asses/etc?

Listen, I love criticism, and not in an 'I say I love criticism but get butthurt when you give it' kind of way. However, informing someone of your needlessly detailed kinks and fetishes is not criticism. If I post a teddy bear on DA this afternoon, I promise you that not a single person will say "this is good but I'd really rather see you paint more trees."

And how ridiculously myopic is it to say that it should be the artist's responsibility to "deal with it" instead of - just maybe - evaluating yourself and seeing if something should change? You do realize that, whether someone is justified in flying off the handle or not, the end result is that they no longer produce material for you? That it might be in your best interest to check your behavior, to honor their requests before cramming your own into every veiled compliment?


That's all I've got, really. You guys can throw in the last word if you want, or PM me if you really like to argue or something... But I'm going to move on and stop shitting up Matt's thread.
