May have just identified the problem-

Do you have Service Pack 2 installed for it? It looks like that update was what included the Printscreen key function.

EDIT: Oh wait, Sarasa was mentioning something like that already. -.-
Well, make sure you've got all the base updates. Here's XPR4.1. If you don't have it in there, get it in there and try again. I've been going through the process of reinstalling, and I wasn't able to save PNGs until I put this in-

Hmm... interesting.
When does this error come up? Within a second of executing the program? If yes, then it might be the executable you're using (may need one a bit more up to date). If it gets to the usual rendering start up point before falling apart, there might be clashing TAH files (which is impossible for me to help with).

Basically right when the program starts up (I have it in window) there is a blank window with an error message in front of it. My exe is probably hold. I'm guessing there aren't clashing TAHs unless they clash with the new base. Because it works otherwise.

To see if some TAH are "colliding" between them, you can use "TDCGExplorer" ;)

For the error, if it's not a directx errors, a webcam detection errors (the 4.1 can use them), it's perhaps one of the TAH that not fully compatible with 4.1 (one of the toonshader2.tah version for exemple).

To see if it's a TAH that cause it, I suppose you have already tried to temporary remove them all by putting them in another folder except the base one (base, base_xp, base_xp1...4 and perhaps the SP one if you have them base_sp0...2r1), and launch with the ObsDX9.exe that come in the "4.1_nobase".

Thanks so much for this Sarasa! Awesome utility. So... I used it, cleaned stuff up, replaced the EXE... now program works. Time to test the snapshot...

Unfortunately, not working, I have the 4.1 in there... fn+prt screen, shift as well. I guess I can just do screengrabs the old fashioned way, lower res but whatever... thanks a lot for doing all this though.

Yep very useful, it has helped me many time to see that the same "set" (same rev version) was present X times in the Arc sub-folders, as sometime uploader renamed the TAH ^^;

To bad the combination key don't work with your portable :/
