Page 53 proved to be quite the detailed page, with multiple panels, plenty of faces and characters, lighting effects, and lots of overlapping action. Though I had originally hoped to have finished it yesterday, I was finally able to complete it early this afternoon. Only 2 more pages (and the cover to issue 4) to go! Hang in there!

Surprise! I was making great progress on the next page, so I decided to continue working late and complete page 54, just one day after the last. It was definitely not an easy page, so the quick turn around was the result of a lot of extra work. Sorry for a slightly more vague cropping of the preview this time, but we are getting to the end of the issue, and I don't want to reveal too much. Speaking of end of issue, there is only 1 page and 1 cover to go! The cover, of course, is for issue 4, which appears as a sneak preview at the end of issue 3. We are almost there!

Hey BA!

First, wanted to wish you and yours well as you weathered hurricane Sandy and the snowstorm that followed. Plus you are still pushing on the next book!

That gas map image (although not the most titillating image attachment ever) really shows the scope of the gas shortages. Thanks for sharing.

Anyway - had not seen you over at the BEA recently and noticed that you were actively posting here and wanted to send some encouragement.

Quick questions about the work:
1) Are you drawing your hardline on paper and scanning now or digitally with a tablet or such?
2) What size (in pixels) are your pages when done or the dpi you would print at?

Oh, did want to add that thumbnail of the way too small shirt straining across the gal's chest made my wife say "ouch!" out loud. See, your work is eliciting a response! Say "Hi" to 'JC' for us! ;)

Page 55, the final page to issue 3 of grOw/cOmic#5, has been completed! I have also drawn and started to ink the cover of issue 4 (which appears at the end of the issue). In addition, I have already begun the proofreading and correcting over this past weekend. We're almost there! I hope to have a release very soon! For now, enjoy the preview, which (as usual) I had to make somewhat vague so as to not give away the ending of the chapter.

Hiya, Nimrod! Hope you guys are well, too! Luckily, the gas shortages (at least in my area) are pretty much done. Thousands of people are still displaced out of their destroyed homes, however. (Luckily, I am not one of them.)

I've been to the BEA, more a lurker from time to time. So bust with the latest "grOw" endeavors that I don't have as much time to forum hop as I used to — unfortunately. :(

As for the work questions:
1) I still draw the pages with good ol' pencil and paper and then scan them in. For the past 2 years, I've been drawing them about 140% larger than final. This allows for better accuracy, especially on the smaller panels. (It's also easier on me.)

Recently, I've even started to experiment with a new method — not drawing the page as whole, but drawing separate panels and compositing them after scanning them in. This way, I can draw face large, and shrink it if it needs to be small. At small sizes, the width of a pencil point shift in a line can cause a face to look "wrong."

The good lines are inked digitally with my Wacom Intuos3 in Adobe Illustrator (as well as the flat coloring). Shading, composites with backgrounds, effects, etc. are then done in Photoshop.

2) The current cOmic pages are 2700 x 3525 pixels (or 9" x 11.75" at 300 ppi). I used to work at 200dpi, but converted over on grOw#4.

Amazing. Really, I'm speechless. It's the best growing/GTS story out there.

Upon successful purchase, you are presented with the final invoice screen which has a download link at top. In addition, an email link is also sent to you as a back up. If this did not happen, it is because the transaction was not completed. Did you use PayPal echeck? Echeck usually takes 3-5 business days. Once cleared, the system will automatically send you the email link. I have an order like this, but I am not sure if it is you. For more help, email me directly at help@bustartist.com

OK, will do! (grin). Thanks for your $upport! It's the only way I can put so much work into the grOw series. And I am glad that that work paid off for your "marvelous" review! Thanks!

Let me just say that adding Jennie's height to the side of the pages was a really nice idea!
