not all gamers are like that. I, for example, don't really care what kind of graphics a game has as long as it has a good or enjoyable story. I simply don't care really what gimmick they use to sell a system. if it has the kind of games I like then I buy it.

seems like the hard core gamers are the ones you should be hating.

And I hear you. Though I am not thrilled with some of the new features of the new DS (sort of will miss that game slot) I love that they put a media card feature on them. The camera is meh, I just don't see the need, and if i really need a camera, I got one on my phone.

This is why I ignore new games. I would rather pull out one of my old systems than care about graphics and crap like that. People get critical of games when it becomes too involved in your life. There are more important things to worry about yet be a gamer at the same time. If you enjoy games, play ones that are fun to you.

i love halo ^^ but i'm not like,addicted to it.the people i hate the most are the arrogant ones that wander around matchmaking,downing everyone else anytime they make a mistake.
was also a big fan of soul calibur 4's custom characters.i made a chr for every person i've ever drawn,being rather close to being as canon as possible.

Not compared to the people who insist that Halo, and every other mainstream game, is utter crap to create the illusion of 'looking past the hype." Hating whatever the majority likes is just another way of letting the majority do your thinking for you. If you really wanna look past the hype. Try playing the game and giving it a fair chance before you pass absolute final judgement on it. Also, people have different tastes, so a game that's mediocre to you can be awesome to someone else.

I'm a gamer, and i dissaprove of your stereotyping.

1) i could care less about graphics, if the game is fun thats all that matters.
2) I dont care what they release and what it does or what it's for. If i dont want it, then i wont buy it.
3) VC games are AWESOME, my god i sat down and played NES Punchout for a few hours last night....ahh....memories. (AND YES....Mr.Dream TKO'd me in about 30 seconds)

I've played and beaten all 3 halos a few times, actually i own them....i even waited in line outside in the cold to get a collectors of 3 (NOT Legendary, my GOD that thing was expensive!) They are good games no doubt, but far from the "One Game to Rule them AAAALLL!"(anyone get that? ANYONE? no? T_T) game that a lot of its fanboys make it out to be. At it's core it is very much like many other shooters, and actually takes a lot from the original Half-Life (something thats hard to NOT do though, because that game pretty much set the standard for how FPS's are today. Before HL1 came out FPS's had minimal if any story).

GTA is much the same way. It's a fun game, but it gets old fast. At least if you play the game it was meant to be played. ME?! I do whatever the hell i can to break the game XD that usually ends up in some nice "WTF just happened" moments (and the discovery of many of Rockstars easter eggs they love to put in the GTS's)

I want to reiterate what i said in that post linked above: There are different types of gamers.

-Casual who just play whenever for leasure and don't think too much into it.
-Standard who find a good balance between gaming and the outside world.
-Hardcore who have no clue what the sun looks like.
And for the last one im gonna rephrase it a bit to be:
-Game ENTHUSIAST someone who simply likes games for more than just playing them, but for what they are, the story's they tell, the emotions some can bring. All video games are created equal until they have played them. (ie: dont jump to conclusions).


I would consider myself somewhere between STANDARD and ENTHUSIAST. I'm not the kind of person you will find spending every waking moment looking into every little detail of the games i play. But i will find something that perks my interests and look further into it. (Hell i've played every WarCraft game since the DoS era and im still discovering stuff thanks to wowwiki o.O i usually just look up one thing, and it links into another, which links to another GAAAAAAH damn wiki's!)

This thread also makes me think of how proud of myself I am for getting over my weird desire to keep my games forever.

Now I just keep the ones I really really like, such as Mario 64 ds (I play through that game atleast once a year) and Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

While I am selling FF7 and such. Had I played it when I came out I probably would have loved it, but I simply don't see how its so great compared to a lot of recent RPG's.

My god i did the same thing XD

I was a packrat, eventually i decided to trade a bunch in for newer ones instead.

Though I'm keeping my Shin Megumi Tensei (i think i butchered that) Digital Devil Sagas always. Even if i dont have a PS2 anymore i wont get rid of them. Especially that first one which is a RARE game to find here state-side.


:\ i dont know why, but i like to collect some of the rarer games just to have them. But i wont go out of my way to get it (i.e i wont go looking for it, but if i see it in the store sitting there i'll grab it thats how i got DDS1, it was in the BlockBuster Used game bin XD)

I pretty much got it down to about 10 per console now in my room (though i have a stash of SNES games...somewhere i dunno :\)

The only really rare games I think I will never let go is are my copies of Lunar 2, Breath of Fire 3 and 4 for the Ps1 and Earthbound. I have a complete copy of Lunar 2, with the necklace and everything. It does make me want to get the first one though...

I'm a gamer and the only time I whine about a game being crap is when it's so glitchy that I can't even play it the way the instruction book says to play it. You know, like it causes a system crash, or my guy gets stuck in a wall when I'm not even using a cheat.

It's kinda rude to lump us all into that one whiny stereotype. I love my games, but I also don't sitting around bitching about the systems. I like RPG games and some strategy RPGs and the platformers and actioners and the occasional FPS. I also play tabletop games as well, RPGs or card games or board games.

You should so much say you hate gamers, more like you hate gamer FANBOYS. Those are the ones you seem to be talking about. The ones that swear by whatever system they have in their home and all the rest are crap. I work with one of them who owns all three next gen and he's STILL going on and on about the Xbox 360 to the point where if I even see one I want to puke.

Not all of us are out there to whine. Most of us just want to play. Speaking of which, I hear Disgaea and my PSP calling for a game break.

Come to think of it, this universe sucks. Why does gravity make things fall down? They should fall UP instead! And the electromagnetism is so obsolete. Why SHOULD like charges repel? That's so negative! Also, the speed of light is too slow. The 1960's called, they want their unified field theories back! And the big bang is over-done as a plot device. Hm, not really. I just got my BFA in videogame design. I'd be remiss to poo-poo my future customers and (god willing) employers. I like to think I understand the limitations and proficiencies of each system, and that they cater to different demographics, brands, and genres of games.

He gave no reasons and just posted statement, though this should be in the Flame & BS section since he just said something bad about someone, or in this case a group, and in that section he can get away with statements like that without any leering consequences that may or may not happen in any other thread.

This is bascially no difference then a person on a net coming out of nowhere saying that they hate furries, gay people, or baseball, in a particular community where these people frequent. He did a smart and annoying thing when he said hated something without any particular reason and never stated his tolerance level to that community that did arouse many people to try to defend themselves for reasons they can possibly guess from the "attacker" without even realizing the true reason why he does so. Basically when you come across a statement like this, you have this many choices which basically boils down to:

1. "...."
2. "Why?"
3. "I've got to do something to convince him that we're not all that bad and like us, even if it's just a little bit."
4. "$#%* YOU!!! You're probably just some stupid, hopless, troll with no life at all!!!"
5. Somehow derail the thread to a completely different topic.

Soloferro (or whatever he's calling himself these days) is one of those people who thrive on intellectual confrontation. He doesn't necessarily 'hate' gamers, or smilies, or peanut-butter tuna sandwiches, but he's intelligent enough to realise that stating such will create some reactions. As such, his 'hate' isn't really an end, more likely a mean.

Well, If you must know, Yes, I hate gamers and other such fans of things because all I see is negativity towards just about everything. Instead of appreciating what they have, they complain about what they don't. But most recently, my annoyance is towards gamers. Depending on what happens, it may shift to something else.

And obviously my tolerance level is pretty darn high since I don't go and start fights with people with this sort thing. And I play videogames, and occasionally complain about them. It's just aggravates me to see the general face of gamers to be that of a spoiled brat that doesn't know what it wants and complains about everything it gets. This is just following the DSi coverage. When the next Harry Potter movie comes out and everyone bitches about it, I will shift my hatred to movie aficionados.

The reason I'm so broad about it is because pretty much everyone does it, including me, really. Every gamer I've met on the internet or otherwise has some dumb, irrational caveat against something else. And it annoys me. You can say what you say, but your actions speak louder than words.

The problem is that dicks that play games have taken over the face of gaming.

Do you no longer have any other system that plays GBA games? Are you aware that there are pretty good odds that GBA games will be downloadable a la VC? Did you know that GBA is quite possibly the easiest to emulate modern(ish) system on the pc? I've played through pretty much every GBA game this way. Bought a couple on that basis too.

I've noticed that.

But i think the reason the GBA is emulated so "easy" is because it is very close to the SNES. It just has a more powerful processor (32bit processor like a PS1, but the rest of the system is still 16bit like a SNES). And the SNES has been nearly perfectly emulated since before the GBA was even released pretty much.

Ironically for the psp its one of the hardest, yet it nails SNES/PS1/Genesis, and other systems more powerful than the GBA spot on :\

furthermore, if someone were to release a gba emulator that works with the sd card slot, that would be legal too.

Thank you, legal loophole that allows you to make backups of games you already own. Probably made to prevent people from being sued for installing their games on new computers without erasing the old ones they gave to junior. You know, I see you disagree with me a lot, but you don't exactly put any effort into it.

To tell the truth, I was hoping you'd say that. That's actually exactly what I was talking about. It's not a 'back-up' if you play it. And no part of your standard end-user license agreement makes any allowance for downloading it online.

To be technically in the clear, one must have their own card reader (or borrow someone else's) and either never play that copy, or destroy the original. But it's not like anyone keeps the sales reciepts, either.

It's kind of the opposite of marijuana: illegal to DO, legal to posses.

There is no legal loophole. None.

I've actually READ the instructions on some of my games and a lot of them say in the back where the legal mumbojumbo that there is no need to make a backup of the game, and that it is illegal to do so.

Here is an example of one of said instruction manuals:

"Copying of any video game for any Nintendo system is illegal and is strictly prohibited by
domestic and international intellectual property laws. “Back-up” or “archival” copies are not

Now im not sure about other consoles, but i know nintendo is definitely taking steps.

ahhh halo, i love it but not enough to say its the best game in exsistance, because its not, like all games it has its up's can downs like i just recently got the halo1 for my pc and i thinks its miled better than the xbox version, only downside marster cheif has a voice. Its all the little xbox nerds who preach and preach how halo is the best fucking game in exsistance that give it a bad name. one of my top fav fps
