Size Graphic Novel "In the Small"

In the Small by Michael Hague

http://www.soundonsight.org/wp-conte...-the-small.jpg

"A mysterious blue light (given the name "The Blue Flash") instantly reduces every human being on Earth - and ONLY human beings - to one-twelfth of its original size, so a six foot tall person is now a six INCH tall person. In a (literal) flash, Nature turns the tables on Mankind: Machines and dwellings made for Man's use are now too big to be used, devices to keep nature at bay are either useless or keep humans at bay now. And Man is no longer the dominant creature on the planet; even creatures still smaller than humans, such as ants, are more deadly than they were before. Among those who survive the Blue Flash, two brave teenagers, eighteen-year-old Mouse and his sister Beat, emerge as leaders. This graphic novel has been out for almost two years, and reportedly there are plans for a motion picture based on it."

Sound interesting.

Seem to be a movie of it planned for 2010 by the guy who make "I am legend"

Sounds interesting.

Are there any scans of it out there?

Would the word epic come close to describing this movie?

I doubt there will be a good shrinking process out of this. =\

While I agree with Lorekeep, I still feel the need to hold out some small shred of hope.

KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE!

Yeah, it sounds like instants shrinking.
Still, even without process, it could have been so much better if only one gender shrank. I wouldn't care if it were SW or SM, either would have been awesome.

Well, it's more man Vs. nature then man vs. other man, so I think shrinking only one gender would have killed the entire darn point of the book.

It's got my interests somewhat. Could be a fun read.

I actually own this. No process, but everyone shrinks out of there clothes, so that's a plus.

If only they were to do that in this alleged movie.

Re: Size Graphic Novel "In the Small"

The link is from late 2009 and the project isn't listen on Francis Lawrence's IMDB profile, though he does have one untitled project. Sounds like this one is dead at the moment. The article does say that Laura Harrington wrote a first draft so at least there's a script floating around out there.

Although there's no process in the original graphic novel, I wouldn't be surprised if a movie adaptation included a process sequence. The shrinking-out-of-clothes sequence from Burton's AIW was featured in the trailer so someone in Hollywood thinks that kind of thing sells movie tickets.

Can you pot some scans? Even without process, it may have something to offer.

Absolutely!!!

Any trailer that features any scene of that kind, I would be more than happy to pay to watch it in the cinema.

I found a brief trailer of the book on youtube that's pretty much a series of frames, it looks pretty good.

Here's the link.

JasonSlayer>> If you own this, you must please post scans of it, this little sample alone has got me searching relentlessly for it.

I know what you mean. If this does become a movie (or so the rumors say) it's definitley going to be one of those disaster films that will mess with your head. The scary thought we all have at times is the realization that the world exists in a delacate balance, and at any moment, something instant and catastrophic like this and other infamous apocalyptic scenarios could easily cause it all to come crashing down. I believe that is the fear factor that makes disaster movies stay on the film industries radar.

News for everybody: I'm no longer really content with "In The Small", so I'm intending to donate it to my local library next chance I get.

Shrinking fans in the South Bend, Indiana area better keep an eye out. With luck, it'll be in and processed (no pun intended) just in time for the holidays.

Sucks that you were the only process member who had this, couldn't or wouldn't post scans of it and now you're discarding it. I guess smoothing aren't meant to be :(

Ha. I am currently located in Evansville , Indiana, at the bottom of the state. I am probably the closest one on this board to it and it's still hours away for me. Otherwise I would scan the hell out of it for you guys.

Update: I was just at the River Park Library in South Bend, Indiana, and it seems like they just took my last donations and put them right up for sale. Should only be about a dollar if anyone wants them and lives in the area.
