Size Con privacy and those traveling solo

After speaking with a meetup attendee this past weekend, I think we have been doing a bad job at addressing privacy concerns as well as helping attendees feel more at ease if they're traveling solo to Size Con 17.

First, privacy is HUGE for us, which is why you don’t find a lot of photographs from our 2016 event. Many of us have public jobs, including Bryan our co-founder who has a medical profession. Many of our attendees at Size Con 16′ as well as at our meetups are teachers, doctors, nurses, or hold other very public jobs. We also sell our tickets through Eventbrite, so we do not have your financial information, or address. The most we need is a name, which we will not share. This is only so that we can check IDs for minors, as well as match Con badges to attendees. We would never of course reveal our attendee list, because Bryan, myself and many of our friends are on it too.

Your privacy is important to us, because we all care about privacy. Remember that videos are not allowed at the con, and photos are only allowed with explicit permission of all those in the photo. Not following the rules will mean you can be ejected from the event and banned from future Size Cons. We had zero instances of this, harassment or any sort of inappropriate behavior at Size Con last year, but as always, we will have volunteer security and staff available to assist you if something inappropriate were to happen.

Size Con always has and always will be a place of inclusivity, respect and community. This is why there should be no problem finding others to mingle with at the event in between panels, games and tech demos. At last year's Size Con, our attendees ranged from 18-70 years old, a third were female, every race and ethnicity was present, as well as straight, gay and trans people. You will NOT be alone. Everyone around you understands your immense love for you size fantasy 8) Our focus is on community building, providing educational panels like size+sex, run with the help of TES (BDSM non-profit - http://www.tes.org/) members, or fun activities like size VR demos. We want to celebrate our unique fascination in a accepting atmosphere among other size fanciers. Because we pushed a community agenda, many friendships were born last Size Con. Who knows who you'll meet? 8)

We hope to make connecting with others a little easier, by inviting ticket holders to our own slack channel so that they can find roommates to split a hotel room with for example. We also hope to start posting a voluntary list of attendees by username so that you can see if a friend, or someone you admire online is attending. We know traveling alone, especially to an adult con can be a bit scary, so please let us know what we can do to ease any doubts you may have about attending the con. If you have any lingering concerns about attending Size Con, please let us know so we can address them. We hope to see you this July29-30 at Size Con 2017! If you happened to attend Size Con 16', please feel free to share your experience at the con. Thanks! :D

P.S.
We do have some artist alley tables available, if interested in being a vendor at Size Con 2017, please e-mail Bryan at nycsizecon@gmail.com !

I definitely want to attend, but I'm not sure yet. That 11-hour drive is gonna be a pisser, but airfare and trains are too expensive and the bus takes an entire goddamn day to travel the route one way.

Honestly, though, I can handle the drive. Won't like it, but I can handle it. My main issue is gonna be the cost of the hotel room...

How many people would you say attended last year roughly?

Wish I could attend as well but a cross country flight and hotel needs would be a monster cost to tackle.

I'm going. Just got to get the money together for it but it will be doable for me.
The hotel will be $159 per night and I'm going to stay that Friday night. I'm planning on flying in from Boston so no Sox or Patriots stuff on me just in case ;)

We had about 135 attendees last year, although we could have had more. We sold out of tickets early because our event space had an occupancy maximum of 135. :( This year we have a space that can hold up to 500, though we estimate we will probably be in the low 200s. It's still a little too early to tell though. Either way, there will be plenty of like minded size fans at the con :D

By the way, and this goes for everyone here, but have you considered looking to see if any of your online buds might want to take the trip with you to Size Con?

I'm in a financially tight spot myself, so I'm not going to sit here and tell you guys what you should spend your money on, but I do know quite a bit about saving money at cons! I was quite the cosplayer most of my 20's :P If you can find a con buddy, you can save a ton of money on carpooling and hotel costs, maybe even food. I used to attend a con out in Pittsburgh every summer which was about an 8+ hour drive, and I could only attend if I found someone to split the costs with...so I get y'all 100%. Ask your online friends, you'd be surprised who's within a short drive away from you! :D

For those flying in, I can't offer any advice on getting cheaper airfare, unless you fly a crappy airline like Spirit or travel on a Thursday :P At least NYC has plenty to do if you want to vacation over here too

Looking forward to meeting you there! :D And no worries, the convention is in Mets country, we don't get angry, we just shrug and nod dejectedly. :D

I'll be attending. Turns out my bosses at ShrinkFan will let me crash in the company room, so all I have to pay for is my ticket and gas (which, I drive a hybrid that gets crazy mileage, so...)

Probably buying my ticket within a week. Look forward to seeing everyone there! :D

Looking at the list of who will be there and qzar saying that I can't wait to meet a lot of my favorite writers, producers and artists.

Re: Size Con privacy and those traveling solo

Shit! A con I'd love to attend, simply due to the fact that fellow writers, whom I've know, spoken with over the years, and in some cases, collaborated with extensively (i.e. Minimizer) will be going...and I can't get away due to $$$ AND work. *Sigh*

Sorry gang...I guess I'll have to park my behind in front of the computer and just focus on generating another couple of chapters of my current story to try to finish it sooner.

Have fun for me.

Troy

Well that's a shame. Would've loved to meet you.

Ah, well. Reducer and scidram will be there, so there's that.
