Perchance To Dream - A SW Novel - Discussion & Help

Hello everyone!

It is finished!

67 Chapters
1091 pages - Microsoft Word - Times New Roman Font 14
501,484 words

Over 15 years ago, I began a story entitled 'Dare To Dream' that I posted Chapter by chapter on some of the older forums. Back then, a lot of us who were SW writers, posted chapters for folks to enjoy of stories we were working on, mostly for fun. It's where Minimizer and I came to know each other and collaborate on some stuff, and it's where 'Dare to Dream' began.

Back then, I was in a different place in my life. SW writing was something I did on a regular basis, but while I was writing DTD, real life came crashing down on me. My first marriage failed, I got divorced, I moved from Georgia back to Virginia and had to rebuild my life. For awhile, the story got shelved and I planned to return to it. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I picked up the story, read it, and decided that I wanted to make writing this story a part of my 'Bucket List'.

One of my life goals is to actually PUBLISH a story...not post it on a forum where it will be forgotten (except for those fans who copy it and save it on their hard drives) but actually have an actual physical copy of my work that people can hold in their hands. Problem is...I don't know how to do that. So I'm posting this thread in the hopes that some of our members who might know more about this than I do, could come along and help me piece together exactly what I need to do in order to make this dream of mine become a reality.

For those of you who might be interested, allow me to give a synopsis of the story, which has been officially retitled as Perchance to Dream:

Kathleen Marie O'Connell is alone in the world. Her mother died in childbirth, she has no relatives that she knows of, and today she is burying her father. Unemployed and broke, she finds herself at the edge of the abyss, with no hope...until an elderly gentleman shows up at her doorstep, informing her that she is not alone. A distant relative, living in Ireland, offers her the chance to start over, build a new life filled with possibilities she never imagined before. The only problem...she has an ex-boyfriend who is part of the crime family of Chicago, and he has issues with letting go.

Upon arrival in Ireland, Kathleen discovers that her life isn't what she believed it to be, and the possibilities for happiness are hers...if she dares to dream.

Perchance to Dream is about a young woman's discovery of the truth about her life and the realization that the boundary between the world she knows and the one that exists in dreams, is but a hairs-breadth apart. Set in the modern-day world, this story delves into Irish mythology including elves, goblins, faeries, and things of a much darker nature. I'd like to classify it as a modern-day fantasy novel with romance, adventure, and the one thing that we all love...shrinking!

If Perchance to Dream were to be a movie, it would likely be a hard PG-13 or possibly a soft R. There is some language, sex and nudity involved, although nothing too graphic.

Anyone who would like to comment or offer suggestions to help me in my journey to getting this story published are welcome to post their comments. I welcome them all!

Thanks,

Troy Light / Marauder727

As someone who has held in his hands a physical copy of two different self-published books, I think I can be of assistance, my friend. If you'd like to PM me, or mail qzar9999@yahoo.com, we can have a little chat.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear of your travails, but thanks for returning to your work.

I look forward to reading it.

Actually, you can thank Mercutio...on this board, I think he goes by another callsign.

He actually reached out to me and inquired about the story to see if I was going to continue it. He acted as my editor and beta reader to give me feedback and suggestions. Many times, he helped me keep everything straight. As the story grew, there were times when I confused characters and when certain things happened. He helped me when I goofed.

I'm looking forward to getting it ready to print and make accessible via Amazon or other online sites for everyone to enjoy.

Are there any spankings?

Spankings? Uh, not in the actual sense of the word, but some characters get spanked in other ways. :)
