PornHub Purge

Well, in what will likely be a win for content creators, Pornhub just nuked all non-verified users content. To upload, you'll now need to verify - so, they'll hopefully be less of a source of piracy.

Considering that content from my store, from prolific content producers like Media Impact, from high-quality creators like RedParrot, and even from the company I work for has been pirated via PornHub, I can't say I'm anything but pleased with this decision.

I was quite stunned to find some of the BE comics I wrote show up on porn hub. Who wants to watch comic pages scroll past?

People are fuckin' weird.

Well that is a odd turn. I would not have thought them willing to do such a move. Wonder what sparked that, assuming was not just too many DMCA claims? As much as it a huge strike against piracy. I wonder how they will do their new system? Seeing there were a few creators that did CGI/nonIRL stuff that might want to remain anon even if it just to PH itself. Also I wonder if they really did purge it all or if it is just hidden till people verify. If not hopefully legit creators got a chance to back up their content before the purge.

Ah well it will be good for creators in the long run. Though I do wonder which site will pop up to fill the gap?

Well if it is watching it scroll or not seeing it at all. Most would watch it scroll. It makes sense for those who just want the content. Though I do agree it was an odd choice when they had an actual picture gallery on PH.

My understanding is that they didn't DELETE all the stuff, they just rendered it inaccessible until and unless the uploader verifies their account.

As for why, it's because PH was getting in serious trouble over some recent illegal stuff that people had been uploading (KP, *actual* abduction and rape, revenge porn...) so this was how they chose to end it.

I know what you mean, I thought it was kinda strange to see my own comics just slide showing on there.

They got hit with multiple huge child porn charges that the fbi are looking into. So they pre-emptively dumped all unverified stuff to try and save their skin.
