That's really bizarre and I've got no idea what's causing it. Has the game completely crashed (i.e. no music playing) or can you still interact with it? This is the first I've heard of it happening.

I get music, just cannot interact with it beyond closing the game using the X button in the corner

I've got no idea what's causing that, sorry. Sounds like a PC issue on your end.

In Max news, development on the new update is going really well and I'm hoping to have it finished in the next few days. It ended up being twice as long as initially planned, but it's a lot of fun so hopefully everyone will enjoy the new nightclub content.

So, I just finished playing through the new update, and I think I now have a good idea about who that 3rd new transforming character is ;) Looks like I've been overthinking and was way off. Thank you for that hint, Lach!
