Oh? What kind of miniatures? D&D? Warhammer? Star Wars (either WotC or FFG)?

CryoVchriS: Your enthusiasm is killing me over here. ><

I'm sincerely pleased that you're enjoying the comic. :)

Cool! You're the first person to donate, and I sincerely appreciate it. ;)

Paypal: reavercommissions@yahoo.com

As for cost, well, this particular comic cost $265 to commission. The next comic will be much, much higher (given the greater length), between $590-700.

A lot of money, I know, but I think with donations, I can swing it. I'm putting in a TON of overtime at work too in an effort to ease the cost.

A taste of things to come.

Figured I'd post this here, since it's originally my thread (although since I'm under a new account here, I obviously cannot edit the title to reflect new content).

Anyway, the actual comic will follow shortly. Artwork is by Padmenvy (the original layout of the cover is courtesy of Lunate. I asked Padmenvy to elaborate on the original sketch, and this is the extraordinary result).

And, as someone suggested, here is the original trilogy that spawned these comics (so you can read up on the story if you're not sure what's going on).

Current Order of the story:

Derelict Jedi (Written Work)
Star Wars: Genesis (Written Work)
Star Wars: The Wild Side (Written Work)
Desolate Jedi #1 (Comic)
Desolate Jedi #2 (Comic) (Coming Soon)

Re: Desolate Jedi #1

Well, I'm killing this project yet again. Sorry. This time it's for "lack of artist", rather than lack of funds...ie, my artist has just up and vanished...with all the money I paid her to work on Desolate Jedi 2. Every attempt to make contact with her, across a variety of mediums and over the span of a month and a half, has failed.

Oh bother...I'm just not having any luck with artists and big projects.

Live and learn, I suppose.

That's really too bad. Hope it doesn't stop you from writing more at least in the future though!

Could you maybe dispute the transaction on Paypal or anything like that?

I put in a dispute today, but because I paid her via installments, only the latest payment is eligible for a dispute. So, I might be able to recoup ~$300 or so, but not everything (and I'm not really optimistic about the $300).

I don't quite understand what happened. It was going so well. She and I were in regular contact, she was showing me sketches, and promising to show more soon...and then she was gone. I waited a month. Nothing. Since I'd invested so much into her and comic, I decided to press the issue and fired off a few e-mails. Nothing. Tried a few more e-mails and notes later on, and gave a final attempt notice. Still, she said nothing. So, with the time I had left to dispute the latest payment down to 1 day, I decided I'd given all the rope I could.

I hope she's alright, and if she'd just given me some indication that something was wrong in RL, I would have been fine with that. But she gave me nothing, and so my benefit of the doubt faded. Sad.

But, that's life. If I don't get any of the money back, then I'll have just learned a painful lesson. That's all there is to it, really.

Re: Desolate Jedi #1

Whenever I make an artist commission, I pretty much assume I'm going to get screwed and take it as part of the risk. But these are small amounts of cash like $20-$80, which I could pretty much care less about. Finding a trustworthy, reliable artist for expensive projects is pretty rough, and I'm sure a lot of those guys who put a lot of money into these things (pixelmorpher, locofuria, zero forever come into mind) have had to build up business relationships and get screwed a few times.

Well, I hate lazy people or people who take advantage of others as much as the next guy, and I honestly hope you get your money back and hurt their credit somehow. Sorry to hear your first couple of attempts at this backfired on you - doesn't seem that common in this community; you were just unlucky that way perhaps.

Sorry to hear that you ran into some more trouble. I hope you try again at some point.
