Yes, the early BEA was rather different than what one sees today. Much more BE than now. Also, much less support and discussion of all manner of BE.

I will say that the whole 1-image, 1-post, 1-day thing has never seemed to be a real problem as the VAST MAJORITY (like 93.75%) of users do not post any images.

Well, now that it appears to be working a bit better. Let's go see if we can make it a bit more like the good-old-days. :)

I have always maintained some of my work over there... Then they messed up my membership...sigh.... I fondly remember the good old days..

I agree that not many people were affected by the rule, and the issues didn't really stem from the rule at all, just how it was enforced. It honestly should have been a software/server side restriction and not something that needed to be policed by real people. The way the mods would aggressively go after people who also were the biggest content providers was kind of insane.

I was curious has the Moderator scene at the Bearchive calmed down? I heard they could be swarm at a moments notice.

But in all seriousness, I remember some time ago where a 'disagreement' from there followed someone else to another BE type forum.

When I was still active I had a silly little habit of checking out the 'Banned' section on the general forum. Some of the reads were quite epic.

You couldn't pay me to moderate a porn forum again. It went to shit on day 2 and got worse from there.

But you couldn't pay me to moderate any forum. Humans are just too fucking stupid to be believed. The sooner we exterminate the lot of them, the better.

Well... if the old venues of content are going down... what do you think the next venues will be?
VR? Cause a lot of stuff can easily be done with toggles there.

Seems the forum is running super slow again around JAN 8th 2021 or just broken... hard to tell. Again - this is why I keep telling people to save any content that is significant or historic.

This makes we wonder if the site is still profitable? Is their rev stream to the point they can't do upkeep on the server(s)?

Took me a long time to make a post the other day. Click forum (wait a minute), enter password (wait a minute or 2), click New post (wait a minute), write post and submit (wait a few minutes)

I didn't check this time, but last time it was only the forum that was slow. The rest of the site was fine. That would seem like it's a problem with the forum. Last time it seemed like it started when they purged all of the Chelsea Charms content, and it went away eventually.

I'd wonder if it's a software problem, unless it's a forum-only server that needs to be restarted every once in a while. It was something that appeared suddenly, and then went away suddenly.

Me, I've never been able to figure out what all this had to do with bears or chives.
