Edit: Now that I watch the episode, it turned out to be very vital to the plot of the show for some reason. The episode it happens in is in 61 and they change back in 64. But the transformed cat characters stop being the focus by episode 63.

In the 133 chapter of the Fairy Taill 100 years manga, the main characters fight weird people who claimed to be alchemists and uses their powers to turn Erza and the current fighters into animals.
