Minor transgender in "Doctor Who"

Spoiler Warning----------------------In the season finale of DW titled "Hell bent" the Doctor is confronted by a Time lord General (the same one from "The Day of the Doctor" ) he takes his Stazer weapon and threatens him with it. When the General says that it has no stun setting he asks him how many regenrations he's had, when he answers the Doctor shoots him. As he escapes the General regenerates into a young black woman. Not much with the character after that, it happens within the first half hour;)

Yeah, while it definitely counts it was unfortunately just about as businesslike and un-sexy as a TG TF could get. She hardly reacted to the change (neither did anybody around her) and she was dressed in very masculine Time Lord armor with short-cropped hair. She seemed to regard the regeneration process as a momentary annoyance, which is kind of odd given how it's always such a big deal for the Doctor. (I think she said something about how she was glad to be female again, but it was more like the relief of taking off an itchy coat than any big moment of transgender joy.)

So it was an interesting moment for fans of the show, but not something I'd suggest anybody track down just because they're hoping for a fun transformation.

Agreed. I hope the Doctor isn't this flippant if/when he changes into a woman.
