Favorite Bonds (007)

With the new Bond film coming out figured I would ask who/what are your favorite Bond characters, girls, gadgets, cars, movies, ect....

I never got too absorbed by the Bond movies, but I have a better liking of the older ones. The cars in all of them do it for me though. Man....What I'd do for headlight mounted rocket launchers! Traffic would part like the red sea before me!...Or else.

Man, I grew up on the old Bond films. Granted, I'm only 23, but my dad was a huge bond fan, and as kids, my brothers and I were always watching Sean Connery as James Bond. Supposedly he wasn't Ian Fleming's first choice to play Bond, but I think that there is no one who can compare to the original. Pierce Brosnan had the suave thing down, but that was about it. He was too much "Guns and Ammo", and he was much too slight of a person. Honestly, there was nothing intimidating about him. Connery on the other hand, picked up a fucking couch and hit a guy with it in one film. In Goldfinger, he hits OddJob with a gold ingot. He was a much more physically formidable Bond, but still had the charm and charisma. To me, he just seemed like the quintessential Bond for his all-around characteristics.

I personally always felt Brosnan got short changed. Golden Eye was pretty much the best Bond film and Brosnan was great in it... but after that, the quality declined markedly until we had the unparalleled idiocy of THE INVISIBLE CAR... in a film that was essentially reusing the plot of Diamonds are Forever...

Yeah, I gotcha. Brosnan did get the short end of the stick as far as having idiots in charge of making his movies. I mean, they didn't fail because of his acting, just because they were fundamentally shitty movies. However, I stand by my previous comments. I think that, by far, the best Bond film is a tossup between Goldfinger and Dr. No. No question, in my mind.

I'm anxious to see what Craig brings to the table in his next few films. I thought he was alright in the last one, and I was pleased with the return to a darker, more physical Bond. I think that they have to be careful not to forget about the other side of Bond, though, the suave, womanizing super-spy.

Im with you there brotha Dr. No is one of my favorites, besides that to the best of my knowledge none of the brosnan movies were ever based on any of the ian flemming movies. But I still perfer Connery over him, Dalton has to be one of my favorites too being a darker bond than brosnan, and Craig got up there with his line when he was being tortured "Everyones going to know, THAT YOU DIED SCRATCHING MY BALLS!!"
What about the bond girls whose are your favorites? I did like Jill, the 'golden' girl

Re: Favorite Bonds

I just took this from a poll on a survey site

Which actor do you think makes the best James Bond 007?

Daniel Craig 21%
Pierce Brosnan 29%
Roger Moore 4%
Sean Connery 32%
Timothy Dalton 1%
I'm not a fan 13%

results sadden me...

Well, TF-Viewer, we seem to agree on quite a few things...

I attribute it to our better than average level of intelligence...though I suppose there could be other reasons...
