Mako's Collection: Mother Of The Gods
Hey hey all!!
Here's a new TF TG comic short based on one of my all time favs. The art was done by the very talented Andrea Montano. Cheers :) Mako http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lls6ZqZNe6U |

Amazing. Are your comics available to buy?

Who else got the early Indy vibe when the name 'Henry' was mentioned?;)

Re: Mako's Collection: Mother Of The Gods
Music kind of gave it away for me instantly and was QUITE distracting. Still was very nicely drawn piece.

I like when you do movie tie ins (though the star wars one is still easily my favorite of your movies). Though I wish instead she became an incarnation of the Goddess or something instead of just a woman.

Are your stories in text, please put them up.

That made the revelation a true surprise. |
Re: Mako's Collection: Mother Of The Gods
I didn't get the Indy references because I never actually saw an Indy movie, so I felt the music was just trying way too hard and the ending felt too...not. I'm assuming it only feels like an ending if you're familiar with Indiana Jones, and since I wasn't, I was just confused as to why the video decided to just...stop without any actual conclusion. It felt like this was the first part of something, but not in a way that left me wanting more. Just in a way that felt kinda hollow.
The art was nice, but ultimately I can't say I enjoyed this. I understand everyone else will because I'm like the only person who hasn't watched something with Harrison Ford in it, but I still felt like putting my two cents in because I feel like the best homages are the ones that work even when the viewer doesn't get the reference and they can enjoy it on its own merits. |

I'm confused by your two cents. First I never really mention this was an "homage" - but even if it was - an "homage" how is the viewer supposed to even understand what the "homage" is if they've never seen or heard the original? The basis for many of these comics I have been making is that they set up an alternate history to iconic characters - and rely on the viewer to know some history before they watch. If you don't know it - it's not my fault. To me... that's like criticizing Back To The Future 2 for not having either a beginning or an ending if you've never seen the first movie or the third - and being totally confused by what's going on.
