I assumed it was a reference to the Legend of Zelda debut trailer and the "Link is a girl!" controversy that's been going on the last couple of days.

Why would that be controversial? I tihnk it would be a huge change of pace.

It was only controversial because people weren't sure of Link's gender in the trailer or that it even was Link, a relative, a new character or even Zelda herself. Since then, however, we have been told that it is in fact Link and that he is male in the trailer.

Really? It looked more to me like he was younger than in recent games, rather than female. Like mid-teens, or something.

I thought it had something to do with Ubisoft's comments about why they didn't have a female assassin character in Assassin's Creed Unity.
