I love how schizophrenic and disorientated "Stevonnie" sounds for the first few seconds of her existence. The way she trips over herself on the beach is adorable, too.

Technically, Stevonnie is a "they." They're never referred to by anything other than name and are made up of a boy and a girl, so... Also, it gives a bit of insight into the process of fusion in this universe: two beings, one body, but the resulting being is both of the two composing it and neither at the same time.

I was gonna post this, but since there's no process, I was hesitant.

Alexandrite was much more confused as "she" was 3 gems fused into one, and not fully as they all had their personalities separate and fell apart when they began to argue. Opal and Sugalite seemed much more stable (well Sugalite was nuts, so not really mentally stable) with a more full merge of personalities. Stevonnie's fusion is likely less full since Connie is human so Steven's crystal side will not incorporate with her and when you add the youth and opposite gender aspects and you likely create more of a mental division.

A theory goes around that the reason why Alexandrite and Sugalite seem so unstable is because garnet could be a fusion herself. That could explain why she has two gems while the others only have one, and why she is always so stoic, seeing as all the others fusions break apart when losing concentration.

Well Alexandrite and Sugalite are "unstable" in much different ways. Alexandrite is all 3 gems fused and in a state of disharmony, they remain individuals while fused and when they lose concentration Alexandrite collapses. Sugalite is mentally unstable in that she is overly aggressive, and has her own personality that is a mixture of her component gems, it took a knock out blow to divide her. Stevonnie from the clip appears to be like Alexandrite, both Steven and Connie as separate personalities in a single body.
