Omega Labyrinth Life (Switch)

The 3rd Omega Labyrinth game ended up getting announced last Sept, but I didn't see any mention of it yet so I figure I'd make a post.

First bit of good news is that in an interview one of the game produces hinted at a Western release. Exact quote being "Omega Labyrinth Z couldn’t be released in North America and Europe, but I don’t think there will be a problem for Life." so here is hoping.

You can check out the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t62WCpqJH74

I've also included some screen grabs of the BE scene.

Heh, looks like they go one stage past the previous game which is pretty great.

Game is perverted to the extreme and I love it.
I would buy it just to support the cause. BE would be extra.

I'll never understand why they didn't opt to release the English version to the Asian market where it was allowed to sell, as the PS is region lock free... Waste of translation and loss of sales. Just terrible business practices not doing that.

And less BE content to enjoy.

But seriously, if they get stopped again, they could very well just dump the english version out where the game gets a pass, and let people import it as the PS and Switch both are region lock free.

The reason is multi fold 1 cost of import since this was likely a physical copy and the import fee plays a factor. 2 who will do the translation. Most companies farm out the translation and due to some translation companies (Funimation) choosing to completely change the script the owners simply refuse to do business with American translators and as a result it never gets done.

These being the two primary reasons off the top of my head, but I am sure there are other reasons.

The official statement for Z's western cancellation was:

"PQube strives to release Japanese content for its fans as close to the source material as possible. In the case of Omega Labyrinth Z, while PQube has worked with all relevant age rating bodies in their respective territories, PQube must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder and have therefore withdrawn any future plans for Omega Labyrinth Z’s European and North American release on PS4 and PS Vita."

This pretty much means Sony said "TOO LEWD FOR WEST". This is in line with recent Sony as they made the Senran Kagura developers remove intimacy mode from one of their latest games and censor other parts.

The thing is, they either had a fully or almost fully translated version of the game. I don't know if they outsourced the work, but it was going to be a translation and not a "localization". It got blocked pretty close to release date.

The only reason it wasn't released to western markets was Sony saying it wasn't suitable for the western audiences.

The game being fully released on the Asian markets, would have allowed them to just release the english translated version there as well and through importing the cost will be slightly higher to the consumer but the game would be available and they wouldn't have had to scrap the translation.

I wouldn't be surprised if if went gold and just didn't pass Sony's inspection when considering the expected release window and the date they posted that the western version is cancelled.

I imagine they would probably lose money if they had to release locally for people to import (considering how niche the game is, and how low the number of people who import games are then mixing the statistics together). Their best bet would have been to just port it to PC, but that's assuming they don't have some kind of exclusivity deal with Sony.
