It was quite the visceral scene! They really did good work here!

Looks like they replaced that with the Monkey work virus that overwrites the 1.2% difference in human\chimp genes. (I'm not watch the show )

There's a reason why It was considered the worst show of 2021 and it got canceled less than 3 weeks

I just saw the original anime on the advice of my brother. It was really really good, and I read it broke ground at the time and helped to make anime more popular.

And the monkey virus made a lot more sense, really.

I don't get why the live action things need change important elements of the original. If they improve things, that's oh-k, but if they make the story worse, why do it?

I mean it's like the crappy live action Death Note. They had Ryuk writing his own names in the book early on in Light's story. Totally destroyed the whole thing. And I had to turn it off and try to forget it. ha

Definitely a visceral transformation, though if I could be pedantic, is it even a 'transformation'? It seems more like those spores were causing trees to grow on/from within her and at the end she effectively explodes.

Shame, tree transformation is done so infrequently.

Yeah, it comes across as more of a tree growing out of her than her turning into a tree. All the blood and her head exploding at the end just makes that a gruesome death scene, not a transformation.

Re: Woman into Tree

Which is too bad because it started promisingly, for the first few moments you could buy that it was a transformation, rather than a sort of parasitic explosion from within. A few clever edits could make it more palatable.

To me, tree transformations are best when they work with one of my lesser fetishes: immobilization via transformation. Specifically when the transformation is just severe enough to cover their body and root her in place, but you can tell there's still a human in there. Extra points if the bark also covers her mouth.

Shame there isn't more tree transformations in the vein of that tree girl at the start of Wishmaster:

I would consider it a death scene, even if she transformed into a tree, since I think that they're no longer that person if their personality dies.

In this scene her fucking head exploded, her brains went all over. She actually died, nothing uncertain or existential about that. If that's a transformation,
so is falling into a wood chipper.

Don't overthink it. That lady straight up died.

Why are you arguing with me when I agree with you?
