I do recall there being an episode of the original "Lost in Space" where the Robinson family visited a planet of giant talking vegetables.
I remember seeing an interview with some the cast members, and they talked about it for a bit. Most thought it was the silliest script ever put to paper, y'know, a guy in a giant carrot costume ranting about people eating vegetables and all, but there was something kind of cool about it. It was certainly original and unique.
