I call it like I see it, you don't have to read it. If you haven't gathered, I don't really care if someone finds something I post offensive, and sometimes that's even the point. If I post something offensive, it's intentional.

Sucht: where do you draw the line? Catty is so 'paranoid' as you so kindly put it, because he tried being cool about it, but people kept saying 'screw that stupid artist, I need stuff to post!' So he got tired of it. I imagine if you were in a similar situation you'd have a certain threshold before you started getting pissy. Everywhere I saw Catty get upset, it was always after making a couple of polite requests for his artwork being removed and being met with attitude in response. I've never once seen him 'instigate the riot.' I admit I haven't seen everywhere his stuff has been posted without permission, but everywhere I have seen it's been the people posting it that were the whiny bastards, of the 'it's on the internet so I can do whatever I want with it!' variety.

And for the record, Catty took his work offline to dissasociate it from his 'legitimate' artwork endevors, not because he was tired of people reposting it everywhere. He had a repository site for his work for a while, that he paid for, so people would feel less of a need to post it everywhere. He took that site down for the same reason.

So in Catty's case at least, it's not just an artist going out of his way for drama. I certainly won't say that's never the case with other artists, but not Catty, at least.

And I offer you much respect for not posting without permission, and apologize for the hostility of my initial post; there are so many 'gimme gimmes' in the BE community especially when I see what might be another I tend to attack and let them try to explain themselves, which you've done admirably. No hard feelings, I hope.
