Hmm, there's just a couple things I've come across, if you are trying to make a new area, and you click too close to the first point (so close that it places the next point on the first point), it closes the area, and from there, the program basically locks itself. You can't add another point because it says the area is closed, but if you try to save it, it says "There must be some lines to continue".
As for suggestions, perhaps have a dial or arrow that shows the angle, or even allow the user to click and drag the pointer to specify the angle (much like you would when you select the angle of shadows for things in photoshop)
