Must be Newsprint, a yellow or brownish paper that is about the same thickness as Newspaper is. I would suggest use printer paper or get some drawing paper (not sketching paper) if you plan on continuing. Getting a few books on how to draw people might not be a bad investment either. You still have a ways to go, I think a few people are happy that you took a stab at making art instead of just viewing it.
