A story is mostly about motivation of the character.
Now if it's a short story (i.e. - joke) then maybe not so much.

To be a bit more specific, I'm looking for (not limited to):
goal in life (win the lottery, be the best at something):
person type(bully, geek, loving):
most of the time their moods are(shy, mean, nice, confident):
motivation(loving parents leads to normal life, mean mother leads to shyness):

Take this and run with it. These things will help flesh out each character a bit more and lead to interesting situations that work for that character. Right now everyone seems to be coming up with basic generic ideas for any character. People here love a good story and good artwork to go with it. If that wasn't the case, WOOT would not be as legendary as he is.

aside: take a look at his stories, that's inspiration enough.

From what I know of Mattie, her goal is just to life live and write comic plots/create character designs, outwardly she's mature and hotheaded, inwardly she's caring and considerate, and not sure what her motivation is.
