Re: BE Story Club Presents: Spells R Us #4
Honestly I think the problem is two-fold. One, the author went overboard in terms of just how much the potion screwed her life up (as mentioned, a common theme in SRU). Two, he didn't wait til the end to kind of make the point. Instead, it starts pretty early and then completely dominates by this latest part. There's no fun, no BE fetishism, et cetera anymore, just the moral of "YOU'RE BONED, HAHAHA!" And the whole public outcry versus huge breasts is outright surreal to see in a BE story, no matter how dark it gets.
As for the whole mind control thing - I understand a lot of people around here aren't as much into MC in general, but in all seriousness it isn't even the MC that's screwing her over so much in the story. It's more the change in reality than anything else. Yes, the MC causes her to enjoy the sex/get into the gang-bang and all that, but it isn't the underlying cause of why her life is being so utterly destroyed. Then again, we don't see whether or not her intelligence is fully intact outside of her own mind or whether she only acts against her will/differently from her original mindset when confronted with sex/around that one guy.
Personally, I don't mind MC stories. But when the entire point of the story goes into full blown "this person is getting utterly screwed and gets no joy out of what's going on," you're definitely crossing the line into that whole "bad MC" territory.
Oh and a quick edit about the comment on her family being huge as all holy hell - Look at her at the beginning of the story. I'd say it's fairly easy to assume her family was pretty fat in the first place. They were that size before the crash as well.
