I haven't heard anyone say this yet, but Natural-selection may have something to do with it. People who engage in sex sooner in very-developed countries end up ultimately having more offspring, I believe. Unlike in undeveloped nations where resources are very scarce, kids in America are subsidized by the govt if the parents can't support them.
From an evolutionary standpoint, those who have the most offspring during their lifetimes, which also surive to have offspring of their own, are the most fit and are selected for.
