The rival forming her own group makes a lot of sense.
She's probably grudingly aware that Subi has beaten her a couple of times, so she wants backup - and she'll probably know Subi has her own friends, so it makes sense she'd want to have her own group, level the playing field.
Also - I suppose, if this is to run for any length of time Subi and her rival should eventually get it together and become friends to fight some greater evil.
