Depends what the illness is.My sister has rp,and over the last 3 years has effectively gone totally blind.
One relative has Marphens Syndrome with leaky veins and eyeballs.Every few years they have to pop his eyeball out to put a patch on a pinhole leak at the back
of the eyeball.
Glaucoma?Can cause a eye to go out of focus.
Cataracts?Some monster big cataracts can totally block the light
from going through.
One fellow started having optic nerve squeezing issues,and what started as a
simple blurry pained vision will shut that eye down fairly shortly.In his case
he's resorted to prayer for his cure.
