I believe 2 miles off shore is considered part of the country. But we wouldnt just stat drilling randomly; we would get permission first. Most other countries with the capability to drill off shore are doing so.

Yes, but if you want to lower gas prices you have to increase supply. Even if its sold to other countries (it will be sold where its cheapest or more efficient to ship) the overall supply goes up and price goes down, assuming demand does not go up at the same rate.
I was also going to make the Stock point, but genderhazard has already done that.
And on one last note, yes i know that the tire thing is not obamas only plan for energy, but he said "Inflating your tires will save you just as much" [as drilling for more oil]. ((I dont remember the exact quote, ill look it up on youtube and edit this post later if im off)). It was pretty asinine to tell us that would save us 'just as much', especially since most people keep their tires inflated. He also suggested tune-ups, but cars are electronic now and dont really need them....
