Just so you know, i never voted for Bush. I was too young in the first election and so did no even pay attention to any politics what so ever. The second election I voted for Karry because i thought, like you, he would simply 'end' an unjust war. Looking at him now, im actually glad he wasnt elected, the guy is crazy and even the other democrats dont want anything to do with the guy.
And as i have said before, im undecided so far in this election, though yes im leaning towards McCain at the moment. Though my vote in that regard would be irrelevant, I live in California and this states electoral votes will go to Obama. So by the end of this election i will either decide to go with Obama (which im not too far off from doing, but not there yet) or my vote will amount to nothing anyway.

Part of me wants to argue that were not mostly idiots and a majority of us do know what were supposed to, but i cant. Ive delt with too many idiots in my short time here and i know a majority of us fit in with your description. Im trying to learn everything i can on the subject of my major, and when i get my BA soon i will continue school for my masters, not for a piece of paper from some guy saying 'YAY! your smart now!' but to learn more on the subject that i love. I might not even complete my masters, but just the classes that i enjoy and are for my field of interest, which include classes that are not just 'for' my major, like language classes. I love learning new languages.
I wish i could say that most other people i know in college are the same, but like you say, they seem more interested in partying than learning, some i know dont even give a crap about their major!
The one thing I will argue though is that people fear Obama because he is Black. Out of the few people i know here who would prefer McCain, not one of them attribute race to their reasons. Thats not to say everyone is as level headed in their decision, there are plenty of racists out there who clutch at their hate, but i dont think they are in the majority. At the beginning of this thing, when it was still Hillary vs Obama, i actually wanted Obama to go all the way to the WH, the only few reasons im leaning the other way now is i dont like a lot of his policies on business. If he were to drop the windfall tax thing, because it wont work, and a few of his other policies, id be leaning left again, maybe going with him completely.
