Silent Mobius, the manga was made by Kia Asamiya and the series also had 3 PS1 games at least, and maybe some on the Saturn too.

The anime aired in 1998, the ending didn't made much sense, as an ending, however the manga ran from 1991 to 2003, while I am not sure, is likely it features a more gratifying ending.
