Re: TF Flash Game
I'm a little late, but at least it's done! The Jungle stage has been added!
Now, I had a thought about halfway into making the default stage layout for the Jungle. Not really a thought as much as it was Flash telling me THIS IS GOING TO LAG. If you don't mind how simplistic the Jungle stage looks (and assuming it doesn't lag) then I might go back and revise the Forest stage as well to be similar to this. I can't measure lag with my machine, unfortunately, unless it's so bad that it takes Flash 5 seconds to realize I've clicked on something. Yeah, the original design scheme for the Jungle was pretty harsh. It looked better, I'll give it that, but I bet a lot of people would've had problems.
-Insert standard message here about needing ideas-
I need ideas. Progress on this is now at a standstill because I have no ideas.
Don't like something I did with a stage? Let me know. Have an idea for a new stage? Let me know. Want me to fix something or change something that doesn't quite work? Let me know.
Also, @Tabby: I drew up the sprites for your idea (just for level 1-1 though, so just the cat). I might just work the concept into a new game entirely. To be honest I have no idea how to implement it with the mechanics in place now. Would the state carry over into 1-2? How would I explain it not carrying over (because right now carrying it over would require me to re-do every animation in the game)?
At this point it seems if I want to use your idea I should just make a new game with only the popular animals and actually make it a mode where you transform to overcome obstacles. For example, cats can jump higher, dogs are faster, mice can fit through smaller spaces, etc. I would just bind the transformations to number keys and maybe add a timer onto them so you can't just stay in that state and cheat, or maybe make it a puzzle game where you can only use x number of transformations per animal to solve the puzzle. I dunno.
