If I were you, whatever I chose, maybe I'd draw them fairly sequentially so they can be picture-morphed between each picture into a full blown animation?
Sure, morphing is kind of a poor man's animation. But then, we don't all have a Korean animation studio to do super cheap tween frames for us, either. If you didn't want to morph them yourself, I'm sure someone else would be willing to do it for ya.
The only downside is that sudden movements (like, where the upper body twists drastically in one direction, or a leg takes a whole step forward all in one frame) suffer some pretty bad distortions, so this would work better for something with slow and fairly calm keyframe-to-keyframe transitions.
But since you're doing all that work anyways, why not do it with animation in mind?
