The woman complained, and the collector had to remove the painting from the talk show set because it's an intellectual property violation which is handled by its own civil laws that are wholly different from the laws for theft which are criminal laws. It's not the same thing as stealing my wallet and burning it.
So that's where one person lawfully pays for the thing, then shares it to everyone else for free? Yeah, I can see how that's illegal or has its issues. But so it's a case of only "bad manners" if you share it? I can see it as bad manners if the original artist wasn't selling it, but I don't know how that works if they are selling it.

I sorta see how it works; like, you can buy a hamburger and share it with a friend without getting in trouble. Your friend isn't getting in trouble for not buying a burger, and you're just sharing something you paid for. I guess it just literally feels weird or a bit unfair. It's like if the burger was infinitely large, so the people who made it could only sell one. After that, the one buyer just shares it with everyone, and the burger guy goes broke or all burger makers are discouraged of even making burgers because they see what will happen.

... excuse me, I'm going to have a burger.
