One of the fundamental criteria for something to be defined as theft, and one of the primary reasons that filesharing is not theft, but copyright violation, is that in theft you are taking something from someone, thereby depriving them of the privilege of having whatever you stole.

I generally feel that downloading is basically completely innocuous (particularly in a situation where you would not purchase what you were downloading in any situation), and that sharing is slightly improper.

But then, I don't use BitTorrent for that reason.
