For me it would be eating a lot, and then the food gets digested and causes her to grow taller and fatter. But that is only when the story is about a fat giantess.
Otherwise, I love science accidents, where she doesn't want to grow, but does anyways, or even better when she can control her growth and grow even bigger by willing herself larger. I prefer it in short spurts as well.
But thats just me =)
