Heh, yeah. You can just imagine the FMA baddies when thinking about Umineko Seven Sin Sisters. There are some major differences though, besides their sin related backround.
They're all named pretty classic. Pride, the oldest sister is Lucifer. Gluttony is being represented by Beelzebub. She is a rather hilarious character and most of her "gags" are food related. Besides the Sisters of Purgatory, Beatrice employs "All of the Goats" which are goat headed tuxedo wearing low ranked demons which serve as the usual cannon fodder.
Besides them, the Golden Witch employs your typical demon butler and a trio of bunny girls known as the Siesta Sister Corps.
If you thought the setup in Higurashi was terribly unfair at times, Umineko will take it literally to hell level as the humans try to dodge their deaths, the weak will resign and join the witch.
As for the translation. It's being worked by a group called The Witch Hunt.
They recently received a letter from the Higurashi/Umineko no Naku Koro Ni author who gave them his blessing and told them to continue working on translating the game.
As sign of respect, he implemented the translator group into the game as a bunch of western witch hunters who try to solve what really happened on the island when it become sealed off by the typhoon.
Needless to say, they're a great bunch and the translation is pure awesomeness. They've added some features for western fans that the original game lacks which will help players.
EDIT:
You can read the letter if you're interested at this address

Throwing in why the Golden Witch is great at coercing people
EDIT2:
It takes a while to develop. Let's just there is a whole coronation ceremony involved in the other case. Even the protagonist clapped for this character becoming a witch. Turns out after a while he shouldnt have bothered with the applause
