With that being said, I'm interested in pursuing this further.
Well if you have any questions send em my way. But the cloth simulation I use is only available in the latest version of Animation Master, the 2006 edition.

I'll second a BE attempt, with ripping if possible.

How long does it take to model the dress, run the dynamics and make the tearing happen?
I figured out popping this morning! w00h00! Not only that, but also how to then grab the cloth with her hands then tear it apart. (awesome, no?)

Modeling the dress is actually pretty easy, it doesn't even have to look good at first. For the dress she wears it's basically a giant cylinder with holes cut in it for the arms, but when I run the simulator I shrink the cloth down so it's a bit more form fitting and more appealing.

But finding the right settings to make the cloth move nicely, and keeping see-throughs and collisions from occuring takes a long time.

I completely agree. I've used Maya, XSI and Max as well. When it comes to animation, AM can't be beat. and for such a low price too! But if I could, I'd rather model in XSI.

I've got something planned which should make the BE folks, shrink fans and the growth-ees all very happy. I've figured out how to do it all now, so now it's just about building the sets, setting up an additional 2 characters and then animating the thing! I plan to use the same model, but I need to change the hair and clothing for each. I don't want to use clones.
