Well, if Trunk gets to throw in images in a cheap attempt to tug at heart strings, why can't I?

Funny, it looks to me like FDR inherited hell and helped us slowly climb
out. You can try and pretend things would have gotten better on their
own, but there is no real proof of that.

Except the fact that the worst economic crisis' in history all can be traced back to government intervention but as always, you refuse to address those.

Like the current
financial crisis that arose from deregulation.

Banking is the most highly regulated industry in America so where is the logic in saying not enough regulation was the problem? Healthcare is the second most regulated industry in America and people are bleating that not enough regulation is the problem there too.
You and everyone else just make this broad claim and don't bother to back it up with evidence or even so much as mention one single regulation that was actually removed.
The truth is, it was government meddling in the form of over printing of money and government mandated sub prime lending which resulted in over investment in housing which in turn resulted in houses being overpriced which caused people to lose their life savings once the falsehood was revealed.
If you want to refute that with evidence, I'm all ears but I am not just accepting "de-regulation was the cause because I said so"

SOCIAL FREAKIN SECURITY, DUDE!

Social security is a ponzi scheme that returns a tiny fraction of the money you pay into it...dude!
It's also a system that has to come up with 37 trillion dollars to make good on the promises it has made to your generation. That's THIRTY IRAQ WARS. The money isn't there. You are going to pay all your life into it and when you retire, you will get diddly squat. You are living in a dream world if this seriously does not alarm you.
Want more proof? Look no further than Galvaston county Texas, the one place in the America that has managed to get out of the scam. They took advantage of a loophole that allowed them to get out and make their own pension plan. After 27 years, we can compare the results. This plan uses a banking model. Workers in the county drawing from this plan get anywhere from 1.5x to 4x what they would have made through social security. Their benefits are better too. Disability is 60% of salary, far superior to social security. Workers can also make hardship withdrawls if they need to, an option social security does not offer.
Social security is neither sociable due to it's fraudulent nature and is most certainly not secure. It's only being proped up by increased, forceful taxation and reduction or even denial of benefits whenever possible.
These all beg the question that the delluded collectivists will never answer. If it's such a good thing, why does it need to be forced?
If the New Deal was such a great idea, why did the president have to back it up by force?
If Social Security is so wonderful, why must they deny you the option to not participate in it?
If the programs they impose on us are so great, why weren't people doing them themselves in the first place?
Robbing Peter to pay Paul is NOT generous, charitable or virtuous by any rational definition and to claim otherwise displays a level of naivity that makes me weep for the future. Nothing government does is generous because IT'S NOT THEIR MONEY. We need to get that into our heads! Everything government does is force and it is intended only to be used to counter the forceful actions of others and nothing more. You talk of free markets allowed to run wild? What about politicians being allowed to run wild? Who's done more damage? Who's capable of doing more damage?
Oh and WW2? Don't even get me started on the political muck ups in there.
