This thread has become really interesting, moreso because of the discussion it has generated in the community than the actual story. The take-away lesson might be that The Process is a collection of a large number of people with radically different tastes.

And so, my vote is that the author write whatever makes him happiest. Because no matter what, 49% of the people are going to be upset that their view wasn't represented.

Everyone who so generously creates content for this site might do well to remember that as well.
