Ball's too tiny, the paddle-girl moves too fast (you may want to use mouse control) and she can move off-screen easily.
Personally, I don't have the patience to "rack" up points just to see a few pixels of growth at a time. Such small bits of growth may work well as a subtle hint to something, like ROB's laser being charged in Smash Bros. Brawl (the red light on his head flashes). But otherwise, most gamers are going to want instant results. The reward sector of the brain is picky that way.
