Re: Really awful parody movie coming out
I sometimes tell the youngsters that there was once a time when parody was a good thing, in fact a valid form of entertainment. I tell them of Leslie Nielsen's glory, of the Brothers who were Zuckers, of the days before the coming of the "Movie" movies. I tell them that once, scatological humor was used in moderation, and that it was good. The foolish little ones mock and point at me, and call me fool! Then they turn back to the screens and giggle at the soulless pop culture mannequins getting hit by the cars with no rhyme or reason, at the nonsensical dreamlike plot structure and nauseating pointless vulgarity and they, poor, callow youths... they think themselves entertained. And a tear runs down my face because I remember.
Oh, uhm... and expansion. Yeah. How about that.
